What is a 6.5 Arisaka worth. "mum" in tact; number matched: walnut stock. metal excellent, wood 75%. Thing of selling.

IMHO I would think you are between $800 and $900. Getting a mum intact in Canada is not an easy find. Be sure you want to get rid of it, it will be difficult to replace if you change your mind!

The type 38s I have seen are all canceled with a ring of "O"s.

Did the Japanese actually use walnut?

The Japanese used walnut (pre war), beech and katsura. Finished with a lacquer like finish on called urushi.
