6.5 creedmoor 130 grain hpbt for hunting

Target bullets are never "recommend" for hunting although they have been used successfully. The A-max is a prime example of this. Target bullets whether they are polymer tipped or hpbt aren't specifically designed for controlled expansion and weight retention.

Although it is convenient to use the same bullets you target shoot and practice most with for both purposes it is best to use a bullet designed for the task at hand. Hornady 143gr ELD-X Precision Hunter would be a good choice.

I do see that Prime does advertise this ammunition as being suitable for hunting so maybe they have proven it effective. But they also claim it to rapidly transfer energy which does suggest it's not a sturdily constructed round. Still seems like a match round designed to fragment. I think for ethically hunting mule dear I would use a bullet designed specifically for hunting game, not paper.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this ammo on a coyote though.
