6.5 creedmoor chamber

Those who have built a custom 6.5 creedmoor what freebore did you go with? The saami .199 seems like it is pretty long for reaching the lands and cycling in the magazine of a short action.

have done 100 plus 6.5CM and everyone has been excellent shooters and customers have run 123 to 147GR bullets with no issues. the SAAMI spec seems fine

Mine is a single shot so I prefer the long throat. But I could see how it would be to long if trying to use a short action mag with the bullets out to the lands.

Go with a SAAMI spec I've done hundreds of barrels like this including one of mine .199 freebore is fine and even when you chase the lands it will still fit in a mag

Plus if you are running AICS pattern magazines, MDT and other companies make no-binder plate magazines which can run up to 2.960," which is huge for 6.5 Creedmoor. I run MDT 12 round no-binder plates for my 6.5 Creedmoor, and I have tons of room on a SAAMI Spec chamber with the 147.
