6.5 Creedmoor components

For those of you reloading it, is it easy to find brass and bullets for this round??

bullets are easy, brass I haven't seen much of yet.

Hornady ammo is showing up at most places now so no longer a problem.

You can always form brass from other rounds.

Is it hard to form brass?? What is the parent case for forming 6.5 CM? (308 for 260.)
What powder are folks using?

I used Lapua 22-250 cases to form my brass, pistol powder, cream of wheat and paper wad.

For reloading H 4350 seems to be the way to go.

Lapua was supposed to be producing 6.5CM Brass but it might be a while before it hits Canada, especially with the popularity down south.

H4350 with 139 Scenar works well in 260.

Be interesting to see when Lapua 6.5CM brass finally makes it into Canada. The 260 brass is good stuff.

Interestingly the Lupua brass is all small rifle primer. Apparently the lighter ignition results in more consistent velocities and longer brass life. Personally I'd probably still rather buy Hornady at almost 1/3 the price.

Lapua brass should be available shortly. It will be like the 308Palma brass they make, with small primer pockets and small diameter flash hole.

edit: someone beat me to it

I am running the converted Palma brass. Still playing with loads, waiting for the weather to get better to finish testing them.

Say the 6.5CM is priced like the 260 at $120/100. Are you saying at 1/3 new Hornady brass can be had for $40?

I shoot 139 gr lapua scenars in mine and IMR 4350.Had really good luck with H4350 also but I ran out and I have lots of IMR so I use it and don't notice much difference other than charge weights.Used some H380 and 130 accubonds that shot great also but if your buying powder I would go with H4350.As for brass I use the hornady.I fireformed some 22-250 brass with unique and cream of wheat and they work well.Converted some 7-08 also but it was more work with the trimming and fireforming.Waiting for the lapua.Heard nosler and federal are making it now also but haven't seen any yet.

As a complete newbie is Lapua really that much better than everyone else for brass? I sense thats the general consensus on the matter

Whats the reason? Does it last longer (can be reloaded more times before failure) or is it something else? If its more than twice the price is it still the better bet?

Ran CCI small rifle primers on Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass. Had two prierced primers out of fifty rounds using a TRG 22 6.5 Creedmoor.
Does anybody have an recommendations on which primers to use on the Lapua 6.5 brass with the small primer pockets/flash holes.
