At the risk of really starting something, that is pure ignorance. Exit wounds do not necessarily mean an increase in lethality.

Simply put, at any reasonable hunting range, velocity in any reasonable hunting cartridge is a minor consideration.

Increase in blood trail and chance of finding the animal.

There's a million reasons to want more velocity. No downside to having a choice of more velocity from your old rifle. The post I quoted was pure ignorance.
