6.5 Creedmor or 6.5 Lapua?

It do t seem to be much difference of the 3 other than the .260 not being capable of feeding in a box mag,unless seated deep.
I'll probably choose one of the 6.5,s, just not sure which one yet.
But I've read a ton of articles and the one thing I've noticed is that , guys are saying that the 6.5 Lapua is inherently more accurate. Whatever that means.( I'm guessing it's more accurate with a broader range of ammo.
In any event I'm not concerned with that as I reload anyway.
 
You can easily shoot 260 out of a mag. I have been doing it for years. You loose a little case capacity but it is not an issue. I am trying out a 6.5CM currently. During brake in I was getting 2870 Avg with 43.8 gr of H4350 out of a 26" barrel and Lapua 136L bullets. Out of my 260 AI I am getting 2850 with 45.3 gr of h4350 out of a 23.75" barrel same bullet. (These are worm loads start lower).If you are going with a shorter barrel I would recommend a faster spin to maintain stability at distance. Possibly a 7.75 or even 7.5.
As for barrel life if you push them all you should expect 2000 to 3500 rounds.
 
260Rem Lapua brass is easy to find, not cheap but neither is x47 and CM.

The 6.5x47 uses the smaller PPC flash hole, so you'd have to get a different tool if you cared enough to ream and clean them.

I'm not sure if the 6.5x47 would feed in a semi, but as most of you know the .260 and CM feed in the modern hunter.

Depends on Mag. TRG mags are long (and expensive), load 140VLD fine. Wouldn't want much heavier bullets for a 260.

I have several '47s and 260's. The 47s are easier to tune, have longer necks which is a bonus to reloaders, and even bullets like 130 gr Berger VLD fit/feed from SA magazines.

Since I ordered my MH in december the only place I could find .260 lapua brass in stock was Tesro in Toronto, and I stumbled across a box of 100 here in Regina at TnT Gunworks.

Is there a stash somewhere that I'm missing???
 
What's the Mag Max OAL for you 260s?

Pretty sure my TRG mags are exceptions. Max OAL is 2.950", The bullet to land is only 2.933" OAL for 140 VLD in Tikka CTR.

I load 142 SMK's to mag length (AI mag) in my .260 and buzz along at a paltry 2770 from a 21-3/4" barrel. Stupid accurate rifle. I've only been able to do it a few times (not much of a group shooter) but this rifle has shot 3 shot groups at 1050 yards that went 4-1/2". Both times I didn't realize what I had done until I got to the target, so I didn't feel the need to try to make it a 'real' group.

I've taken this rifle / load out to 1506 yards without issue. Drift does get very tricky out there, however. Over 1400 rounds through this barrel and at 2770, I don't think I'll have to worry about spinning a new one on for a while yet.

I think most guys split hairs with these three choices. One personal justification is as good as another (and there seem to be many). I say spin a wheel....

I had a 6.5X47 built by RBROS in Washington. Defiance action, 26 inch Broughton, 4 port brake. Shoots the 130 Berger hunting at 2980 fps with 42.2 gr of H4350. Builder says I will gain a bit of speed as I only have 100 rounds through it. I really like this caliber and it shoots really good. Virtually no recoil and spotting your own hits is nice.

Other than feeding issues in a semi with the x47, you're not wrong.

I finally just flipped a coin for my MH.

Well from all my google research , they are all equal. Except I've seen a few quotes stating that the .47 has better brass , in both design and strength . Which leads to better reloading options. Now I'm not experienced enough to say if the 47 brass design makes enough difference, that I would notice. I want the one with the least amount of hassle. If it fits in the mag that comes with the Cadex, mdt, XLR chassis , that would be great . Also if , because of 47 case design, it leads to better barrel life, that's a plus also.
but in all reality the only major diff , is mag related. But as some have said ,you can load .260 in the shorter OAL mags. So at first it was .260, now I'm thinking 47 is the way for me.
 
260 for me, been shooting it for years and it is a real solid performer. The CM and X47 are great too, but we're not readily available when I started into the 6.5 game almost 10 years ago. Brass is excellent and very plentiful, mag feeds well with 136 Lapua bullets, and I have yet to find a reason to change.
 
I was in the same Boat! Which one? 6.5CM? 6.5Lapua etc... It all depends what you looking for!

and much more...

After tons of research online i decided to talk to people who actually have first hand experience with those cartridges.

That was more helpful than online research, to me at least.

I went with 6.5x47 for my build. It is in my opinion such a good balanced cartridge for my purpose of needs.
