6.5 creedmores vs 308

If you ever want to hunt big game, 308 is the easy answer, if you dont reload 308 as well.. there you go :)

I had the same dilema and went 308 because its cheaper to shoot and I do hunt Moose, lots and lots of factory loads everywhere, around here 6.5 CM is still almost inexistent.. Also you need to shoot past 1k yards to benefit from the 6.5 so not a lot of people shoot that far :)
 
After some more reading today, I decided to go 308. I’m thinking of trying out the 175gr lapua scenar-l and maybe venturing down to the 155 gr depending on what kind of velocity I can get the 175s going. Probably going to go with a 23” McGowan with a 1-11” twist.
 
I had a hard time deciding when I was getting a Barrel for mine. I realized 6.5 is superior but I had a pile of 308 stuff already so I went that route but I kind of wish I did a 6.5.
 
Honesty, it really just depends on what you want out of the rifle. If you’re looking for max performance out to longer distances and maybe lighter recoil, the 65CM is pretty great. If you’re looking to do some high volume shooting then bulk 308 prices are way cheaper and barrel life is about double (at least) compared to 65.
