I'm looking for what rifles are available in the 6.5 grenal cal.
I've seen reviews on the Ruger Predator with a 10rd mag...yeah ...I liked that..

Anyhow , the 6.5 grendal has caught my interests and wondering what you guys know about it all.

The CZ527 is chambered in a few calibers including 6.5G, alternatively you could do what I and many have done and build either a Modern Sporter or Mac Def in 6.5G. Depends what you are after, auto-loader or bolt action.

Edit: IV8888 has a video out there for the 6 Grendel (6.5 case necked down).

I looked at the howa mini in 6.5 grendel and if i were to get one it would be the howa
I decided to stay with quarter bores instead of expanding into 6.5s

I have a SLR in 6.5 Grendel. It's a nice little cartridge

I would buy a CZ 527 if I was after a bolt action

XCR-L can be chambered in this- there's one for sale on the EE right now, as well as a conversion kit in the parts/accessories section

Im not trying to knock the round, but can you gents elaborate on the appeal for it? With the other contenders, 6.5CM, Lapuas version and the PRC, the Grendal seems under powered and the others can still use a short action.

Im curious what the appeal is for you folks, why is it popular... And I'm not trying to start a "this vs. that" argument, or the fastest is always better debate, just curious why its attractive to some folks.

The big appeal of Grendel for me is that it fits in a small frame AR and is a great mid range cartridge. I've taken mine to 1100 yards without issue and it's very easy to shoot, low recoil and doesn't burn much powder.

SJAR hit the major points ...it comes down to the cartridge being a compromise to fit in STANAG AR15 magazines. So COAL is limited to 2.26" generally.... Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC don't have this limitation so they're not hamstrung by STANAG dimensions.

I have a SLR in Grendel, love the cartridge bit I dont think I would want it in a bolt. You could download 6.5 Creedmoor to Grendel projectile weights etc instead.

The reason id be into the grendel is for closer shots calling coyotes. A small light rifle with a small cartridge that can pack a punch to droo a dog without tearing it up terribly yet have the legs to reach out for those dogs that hang up. I live and hunt in southwest ontario. My 2506 is great for cross field shooting but not fur friendly at woods distances. Lower recoil. Lower muzzle blast. Potentially less pelt damage due to moderate speeds. Has the power to anchor stubburn song dogs

The cartridge is interesting enough in it's own right... I really enjoy loading and shooting the X39 case... a 6.5 bullet just makes it more useable in a wider range of situations... I get the appeal, even in bolt action rifles.
