6.5 Grendel ammo

6.5 Grendel is a SAAMI spec cartridge.

It’s factory loaded by Hornady, Wolf, Privi, Alexander Arms, Federal, possibly other’s.

SFRC, Wolverine and several other site sponsors carry ammo.

OK let me make a correction:

SAAMI has recognized this wildcat cartridge;)

It is a round that owes its existence to the AR-15, being developed to work within the physical limitations of the AR and is still at heart a wildcat.
The facts are that not many guns outside of AR-15s are chambered for it, and due to the ARs standing as a restricted firearm, not much demand in Canada exists for the Grendel.

Hopefully with the introduction of non-restricted options like the MDL SLR, MV, etc. We will see a greater number of this and other calibers like it here.

However, anyone planning on running a Grendel chambered rifle is still best served by handloading their own.

This is true, but there are more bolt guns here now, they just pale in comparison to other options. I've canceled by XCR-L 6.5 Grendel barrel order in favour of having one built in a true wild cat, .227 Wolverine / 6.8x39 . I'm hand loading either way.

277 wolverine seems like an odd cartridge, never heard of it until now. If wiki is correct, it's a tad slower than the 6. 5grendel or 6.8spc? Any particular reason why you decided on going with the wolverine?

The 6.5 Grendel intrigues me. Seems like a prefect ultra light weight or youth deer rifle caliber.

This is exactly what I'm going for with my Maccabee SLR. Lightweight hunting semi auto 6.5 Grendel for medium game. With optics I'm hoping to be just over 7 lbs with a fully loaded magazine, 6 lbs with irons unloaded.

When i said ultra lightweight, I was thinking around 5lbs with a scope lol Of course I was thinking of a trim bolt action not a semi...
