I think it would be cool in a Zastava mini-Mauser or a CZ in a super light and short walking rifle

Yes!! I would love to build a 6.5 grendel in the cz 527 carbine. Super light weight compact little rifle. Would be perfect for introducing my sons to big game hunting when they are old enough. For that matter it would be a perfect deer rifle for any adult as well.

I hear some rumors of people making the Howa Mini Action into a 6.5 Grendel, sounds like a great combo!
I'm waiting till the 223 stainless ones make an appearance here in Canada, sure is taking awhile...

Just seems to me that one of the disadvantages of the Grendel, that being loosing mag capacity in a AR from 30 to 26 makes no difference here with our stupid mag limit.

The whole "what is a good scope/bullet/load for a SKS for deer" thread, simply answered by 6.5 Grendel. A redone AR or short carbine shooting 90-123gr softpoints sounds like the perfect recipe for deer. Without looking, the ballistics are probably at par or better than a 243 Win, which seems to be the answer for the common "low recoil caliber for deer for a woman/kid" thread.

Exactly. I believe it shares the rim diameter with 7.62x39 and the case is altered to 6.5mm. As others have said, great little round for deer. Great ballistics from the 123 scenar as well.

I want one.

Dennis Sorenson built me a CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel, gun was slick, cartridge I found lacking for my purposes, it's extremely light as a hunting cartridge. I think the 527 is the best action for the job, would be neat to see if you could make a 3.5-4lb little hunting rifle with a pencil barrel on one.

What type of game were you using it for that you found it too light? I would think for deer it would be perfect, except maybe at very long range.

Don't tempt me, man! :)

Though I'd probably go 7-08 just for ammo availability.

The 3 small gun shops within an hours drive of me might have a few boxes of 7-08 on hand, but they all have cases of 6.5 Creed in stock. It seems i'am not the only one shooting a lot of it lately.

The 6.5 Grendel in an appropriately chambered barrel utilizing appropriate projectiles has impressive performance even out to 1000 yards...when compared to über popular 6 BR or 6 Dasher that is. There is an interesting article about it on 6mmBR.com.
