6.5 Grendel flinger of choice?

Just the thought of a .308 in a Tikka stresses me out lol!

Hahaha lifes too short for that kinda agitation! get enough of it from work etc, shouldn't follow into our shooting/hunting!

Minis for minis and short actions for short cartridges it is.

Hitzy, that's a steal alright!

between the 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC and the upcoming 22 ARC, I think we will see more rifles chambered in these smaller rounds in the coming years

22 ARC is being advertised as sending a 62gr ELD-VT bullet at 3300 fps.

Think 223 AI can do that? Although...not from an AR mag length, if so?

223AI holds 4% more powder than a 223, so it won't do it at sane pressures

a 22 ARC casing should hold around 35 grains h2O, which is 10% more than a 223AI, should give 2-3% more velocity than a 223AI at same PSI (80 fps?) - more importantly, it will not require fire forming, custom dies, and there will be good off the shelf ammo

Gotcha! Thanks!

Ended up going with the Howa Mini with 22" barrel and walnut. They put a nice piece of wood on these! Turkish, I'm guessing?

Besides the bottom plastic, I don't think anything else will change aside from the 700 bases. They really are canted on these Howas, so a Warne 1 piece is taking their place.

Nice rifle.

I didn't even know the minis came in wood lol.
Throw a nice alloy or steel floorplate on there and it will be perfect.

When purchased (sight unseen) I was thinking it would come in a utilitarian piece of wood with about as much character or figure as the averagr 2x4 lol

Thanks guys, its definitely getting a metallic floorplate setup in the near future.

Epps has some wood stocked versions in 7.62x39 that come with floorplates as a factory option it seems, but 22" heavy barrel.

That looks great Joel! Talleys and bottom metal is all I would change!

Right on! Thanks! Had been really liking the idea of switching to the B&C stock like you did but the wood that came on it is so nice, think just pickin up the bottom metal and having it bedded will do!

Looks good Joel.
Do those factory walnut stocks have steel/alloy pillars?
When you separate the barreled action from the stock please snap a pic of the inletting/bedding area and throw her on a scale and post the weight of bare stock no bottom metal.
Thanks!

Will do! We can see what it looks like with the barreled action out of the stock soon enough. Guessing the rifle is about 6.2 lbs without the optics/mount etc on it, so be nice to see what the components weigh

don't be afraid of the finished weight, my stubby little ranches in chassis at 8 1/4 lbs when you throw the Harris 9-13 swivel bipod on gets to 9 lbs (before ammo) makes it an amazing experience actually shooting, 6.5 ft/lbs or less recoil energy and watching everything in the scope is amazing, it will be light enough regardless your optic/base/rings solution but more has it's benefits so don't choose your solutions based just on weights, you'll just see more in the scope with more weight, if you end up 7.5 lbs, expect about 2525 fps from hornady black then about 8.2 ft/lbs recoil, add 3/4 lb bipod and about 7.5 ft/lbs recoil, get to see lots happen in those ranges
