6.5 Grendel Options

Are there any mainstream gun manufacturers - other than Ruger and Howa - that come in 6.5 Grendel from factory? I dislike the Ruger Gen 2 stocks, and both have mags that stick way out. I'd love a Tikka, but I've never heard of a Grendel offering from them.

There is an aftermarket floor plate/trigger guard for the howa mini I believe! Not super cheap and I think have to order it form the states but that might be an “easy” solution. I to prefer a flush mag box, I was happy when I found a cz600 in 223 cause they look better imo and makes carrying easier!
 
i'd only recommend the howa as a hunting rifle and not a target rifle, and only with a lot of practice first. the barrel is a total noodle and will string shots after the first few. further the stocky's stock will flex and contact the barrel if you rest too far forward which will cause flyers. finally, if you are used to a tikka the action will feel very rough and feeding is not 100%.

practice one shot from a proper rest and a very accurate and light rifle however.

I do currently own a Howa, and it has been somewhat frustrating. It's a 20" heavier barrel, but it still doesn't group better than 1.5". It may still need to be broken in, but I'd say it's had around 60 rounds or so?

I love the three position safety, the bolt is smoothing out nicely, and the stock is decent. Perhaps bedding the action and changing the bottom metal to actual metal would allow it to shoot better (or so I'd hope). It doesn't need to be one hole groups, but I expect one inch groups with three shots
 
have had a couple cloverleafs with a Howa base-model 308 in a Hogue stock and with a Vanguard 223 in an XRS

That sounds like good advice because if you're doing your part that rifle should shoot.

slinkylegs I know the thread is about the 6.5 Grendal not 223 but you mentioned your Howa mini so regarding the rifle, for comparison, and also incase it's a 223, I just bought a howa mini 20" HB a few months ago and it's shooting very well np exceeding the guarantee. I haven't shot factory but the 75 & 73 eldm, the 55gr tnt and even the speer 52gr hp shoots very well out if it. I was experimenting with the 52's, it's an 8 twist so I wasn't necessarily expecting the 52"s to fly very well but they worked fine. If your done testing it maybe you should have the rifle looked at.

The problem with the warranty is you have to be the original purchaser. I had bought my Howa from another guy, and even though it was in fired, I'm still ineligible for the warranty (from what I understand).

Mine isn't a 223, but I've tried a few different rounds (factory and hand loads) without any luck. I know I'm not the greatest shot, but my Tikka 204 will consistently group 0.75" for me, so getting twice the size grouping in the same day seems to also point to it being the gun. I've triple checked the torque on the bases and rings as well. Perhaps I'll have to see if I can get it looked at by a professional

Forgot to reply to this with my last comment. I suppose I could built, but funds are limited, and a straight up factory rifle is more cost effective. It's just going to be a hunting rifle, and I know 1.5" is good enough for many scenarios, but I try to keep all my guns firing around MOA (expect my Husqvarna 9.3x62)
