Just starting up a new build and was thinking of doing it up in 6.5 Grendel. Anyone know who has 6.5G parts in stock? Particularely looking for a Bolt but potentially a barrel if the price is right.

Wolverine Supply stocks Magazines, muzzle device and some reloading supplies plus a complete upper.
Saskatoon Gunworks has Bolts listed but apparently wont be in for a while.

Anyone know who might have parts for the 6.5G? Ammo would also be nice, although for a less then common caliber reloading will be a must. Who else has reloading supplies?

Worst case scenario I just do a boring old 223 build but would not mind trying out the 6.5G.

Thanks.

I've looked around and didn't see much. I'm waiting on my XCR-L 6.5 G barrel as it is, and Wolverine is the only source I found a while back for mags and various parts. ATRS is building the modern hunter in 6.5 G, you could contact them about the bolts they're getting. I've seen 6.5 ammo sell out at a few supporting vendors, but you can find bullets and brass okay. I've not seen anything in the way of parts, other than the odd barrel or used gun ads.

I bought my dies off amazon, you can get brass at a couple supporting vendors, Alexander Arms brass through Wolverine really jumped in price. X-Reload has some, as does Bartons Big Country (they had an ammo deal a while back). As does Terso Canada.

New to the forum, and only in Canada for two years but, in a former life in another country, I built several 6.5Gs and they are all shooters. Fantastically accurate, even with factory ammo (3" 5 shot groups at 600m). Don't know how hard it is to get parts up here but, if it were me, I'd built it just for the fun of it. There's a whole lot of back and forth about Grendel v Grendel-II chambers that's probably not worth rehashing (see 65Grendel forum, and be prepared for a lot of mudslinging). I've done both and no real difference except the only stuck round I ever had (120g NBT) was in a Grendel-I chamber. If you build, post pics. Maybe somewhere I can find some pics of mine -- left them behind.....

I was wondering about that but have heard nothing about 6.5 GII here. My looking into it on American forums made me not care, Grendel is fine. =)

I've seen the bullets / projectiles readily available.

Not sure if you are set on 6.5mm, but there is a fairly good proliferation of other 6mm and 6.5mm wildcats that fit in the AR mag length including the 6mm AR & AR Turbo.

Thanks or the info.

I really am interested in the 6.5G. 6.5 calibers in General seem to be a great all around caliber. If possible I would like a long range bolt gun in 6.5x55, a semi-auto in 6.5 Creedmore, and an ar-15 in 6.5 Grendel.

Agreed on the 6.5's all around. I built a 6.5CM (AR-10 platform) some years back. Great shooting gun (left it behind as well). I'm thinking of buying (translation: haven't asked my wife yet) one of the Kimber Mountain Ascent 6.5CMs but there are a few worries (1) expensive, (2) rare, and (3) I'm told brass is tough to come by (I'm up near Campbell River) even if you reload. Don't have any experience w the 6.5x55 but, out to 1500m, my old 6.5CM was a wonder. Good luck with the 6.5G project -- be sure to post pics as it comes along.
