For those that have hunted with this bullet, how did it perform? For comparison, the Berger VLD apparently penetrates flesh 1-2" then expands violently. Will the A-max do the same or just expand violently? Does one need to be careful to avoid bone in shot placement or has anyone lost an animal due to poor penetration/performance? Will it work at 100 yds and equally as well at 800 yds?
I am going back and forth on a bullet for a 260 Rem build, and have reserved myself to a 140 grain projectile for hunting everything with the exception of moose. I have considered all projectiles from 129 grains and up but my hunting can take me to 800 plus yards (whitetails) so need the extra downrange energy and accuracy.
I would like to hear from fellow nutz that have actually used the A-max....I will assume A-max accuracy is a given. Btw, a search turned up a youtube video of a 825 yard instant kill on an antelope from a 264 Win Mag... pretty impressive, 140 grain A-max.
