6.5 Mystic for Extreme Range Shooting- Pics of Base Added

Sometimes, you get so involved in what you are doing you don't notice wiggly benches. The ground I was shooting, actually a big rock, is far from smooth so the bench did move....a little.

But a little at 2400yds is HUGE.

I ballast or strap down the table but on that rock, I didn't bother...OOOOPs.

With the gusty winds, I was just trying to stay on top of condition doping. However, I kept noticing shots going WAY high and low. Must be the winds, must be the winds, could it be something else?, must be the winds....

After a while, I did get the conditions figured pretty good so that the next question was "why are those shot still stringing vertically????".

DUHHHHHHH!!!!

Oh well, simple fix. Hope to get a better feeling on the accuracy potential next time I get out WIHOUT the wiggle.

It is way too much fun.

Finally got a moment to take some shots of the elevation base. This is my prototype so not well finished. But it does work and is repeatable. A few points to iron out but it is pretty much done exterior wise.

The base is drilled and mounted as a one piece scope base. If there is interest, I would consider making bases for Savage/Rem long and short actions.

Depending on the ring height, scope and barrel orientation, expect around 150 to 175mins of up.

All the way down for your 100yd zero.

All the way up that gets my 6.5 mystic to 2200yds using base alone.

Gives you an idea of the amount of UP available. I will actually be able to put in a bit more so I can reach out to 2500+yds.
