6.5 PRC Build

Jealous! That scope has about 80MOA available from bottom to top, so you're zero'd in the bottom third of your adjustments. I am the opposite on my Tikka PRC, Vx5 3-15x only have 27MOA available, out of 75MOA (zero'd in the top third of adjustment). Even worse with the z3 Swaro on my 280 Ackley, only 5moa of adjustment left from a 200y zero. Must be something funky with the left hand bolts  I'll be changing out scope mounts from my standy Talley LW to Burris Signature / Leupold DD base that will allow me to free up some MOA with the right ring inserts

You got me thinking so I just checked the Leupold VX6 HD 3-18x44 on my 28 Nosler and 25 MOA
I’m thinking I’ll buy another Zeiss !

Think I found the load for my PRC. Here's four consecutive groups with the 143gr ELD-X & RL26 (2 with 53.8grs & 2 with 54.3grs)

53.8grs 2897 fps (+4c)
54.3grs 2938 fps (+7c)

I'll load up a bunch at 53.8grs and see how it shoots way out there. Round count on the barrel is now 62, still haven't cleaned it

On another note, 160gr Woodleigh Protected Point over 55.4grs H1000 did 2831 fps, 55.9grs did 2878 fps (stiff bolt lift, ejector mark). I will retry around 55grs. BC of this bullet, based on 50 & 100y retained speed is .411 G1. That means if launched @ 2800 fps MV, it will expand out to 400 yards (as per Woodleigh's suggested minimum impact speed of 2000 fps). A nice "big bullet" option for the PRC, (and not too pricey to shoot either at $44 per 50ct from Trade Ex Canada in Ontario). Probably plow through a moose or elk very nicely. Point of impact at 100y was right in there with the 143gr ELD's

Great cartridge

Every time I see 6.5 PRC the first thing that I say to myself is "6.5 People's Republic of China".

300 yards this morning. 53.8grs RL26 / 2942 fps with the 143gr ELD-X

160gr Woodleigh PP over 54.9grs H1000 did 2817 fps. 3/5 shots @ 300 yards landed in 1.5"
