I was presented a good deal on a 6.5 prc,but after research I can't find reloading equipment to save my life.how does any one reload for 6.5 prc in this day and age.or is it a foolish endeavor

I was in Cabela's in Ottawa today and I could have sworn that I saw a set of Hornady 6.5 PRC dies on the shelf.

Cabela's shows them in stock online.

X-Reload shows a Lee 3 die set in stock.

Edit: If the guy has brass to go with the rifle you should be ok.

I am also certain my LGS or CT had them in stock. I can check when I fly home next week. If you haven’t found a set by next Sunday msg me and I will look for you.

I noticed and considered good deals on 6.5 PRC rifles this winter. But absolutely no one in Canada has brass and even the dealers selling the rifles usually have no factory ammo. I have dies (and tons of bullets, powder, and primers) but I ain't buying a rifle without brass or at least ammo!

Brass comes and goes, I had Hornady at first, then found ADG and sold my Hornady. I found Nosler recently, but didn't need anymore, so I didn't buy any more. Powder, bullets and primers are no different than for any other 6.5 cartridge. I bought my Redding dies from Titan in the USA.

What do you need? I've got a set of Hornady dies with about 100 rounds loaded on them. One box of factory 143 ELDX which will give you 'some' brass and I'd be willing to part with either a 1KG bottle of N565 or N568. Where in Manitoba are you?

I'm in selkirk,mb

Found Whidden dies from a dealer out west, then ordered and received some LE Wilson dies from another dealer. It’s all out there, just need to work for it a little. Maybe place a special order.

As for brass and ammo, it’s also out there, just need to keep your eye on the forums and jump on it when in stock. But double what you think you’ll need.

Lapua brass was all over a bunch of site sponsors a few months ago. No luck finding factory ammo. Cam order dies straight from whidden if not available locally.

Thanks all,it has been a back and forth in this brain of mine,to acknowledge the benefits of the prc over the creedmoor, but also looking at cost increase has got me stumped.i saw some 120gr prc at Prophet for $92 about of 20.but in next few days I must decide and decide I will, unless I don't lol.

What exactly are you looking for ?

I have two Die sets Hornady and RBCS but would recommend the widden or forster if you can find them. Mind both of mine work great. Also brass is hit or miss, sometimes you find good deals but it goes quick or you can get put on a waitlist/pre order list.

As for most reloading components 6.5mm stuff/primers and powders are hard to come by. If you see it jump on it.

Projectile wise the barnes 127 lrx seem to pop up on Cabela's website fairly often and in store, the 156 berger eol sell out fast and I am currently looking/debating a middle weight round either a mono or target for plinking.

Send me a PM if you like.

I used the Whidden for full-length resizing. Maybe this was a mistake but it pushed the shoulder back so far that some rounds would barely chamber, and when fired it mushroomed the primer.
The Hornady die is a better bet if you're full-length resizing rather than just bumping the shoulders back.

I have decided to finally get into the reloading again, as I helped dad as a teenager, after sitting on the fence for the last six years. I know, dumb move, but it is what it is.

That said, in the last month I was able to score a new Forster press, Whidden dies, powder, primers, and projectiles for the 6.5 PRC. Stuff is out there, just have to work for it. Brass I have 140 rounds of new factory ammo I bought, and will start reloading that as I shoot it off.

Scored some 143 gr ELD-X off this sight, yesterday he had 19 boxes he is selling.
