6.5 PRC load data,accuracy, etc

143 eldx /Hornady brass/R26 - 57.7 gr gives me 3040, 24" barrel, and is sub moa accurate. Seated to 2.955 COAL, 55 thou jump
57.9 had pressure signs.

So your running 260 FPS faster with 2 extra inches of barrel ( lol) and .7 g more powder.

It seems like a bit to much extra speed , unless because the load is compressed at 57, the.7 extra in really compressed (lol) and giving you that extra FPS?
What primer are you using?
I’m using CCI magnum primers .
I wonder if the magnum primer is costing me some FPS?

Haven't found a really good load with 143eldx's in my 6.5 PRC ...but it does shoot 156 EOL's with 58grs of Retumbo @2950fps into less than 1/2 MOA groups out to 600 yards fairly consistently.

Curious what the recoil in the 6.5 PRC is comparable to ?
I find mine like a 6.5 Creedmoor, but with a little extra snap to it. So, not bad. Ha ha

It’s a heavy gun with a nice recoil pad though.
I can tell you that my 30 30 Winchester has way more kick.

Crap, that’s good man, 1 1/2 at 600 yards. I’ve been shooting rifles for a few years now, not really to deep into it, other than I like shooting lots, and I like shooting the groups fast.
I’ve had a couple of nice and expensive builds ,different calibers, but nothing come close to this cal/gun combo, well, except the cheap 6.5 CM I just sold.
If I can get 1/2 consistently,at 100 yards then I’ll move out.. lol
I think I may have found the gun/powder/bullet to do that.

1/2 moa at 600 yards is roughly a 3inch group not a 1.5 inch group.

Hey guys , I made a big mistake.
I recently picked up 2lbs of powder.
1 RL 26 and 1 RL25 .
I gave away 1 of the lbs, thinking it was the RL25.

I had the other lb on my bench, which I thought was the 26.
Well it turns out it was the 25 I kept and not the 26.

So disregard the above data.

Sorry, it was a stupid mistake.

I’ve edited what I can.

Sorry,it’s been a stressful couple of months.

RL25 is slower burn rate than RL26, hence the drop in speed you encountered. Better than the alternative

Yup, glad it wasn’t the other way around.
Odd that I was getting slight pressure signs at 57 grain ,when max listed load Is 59.5 grain

59 grains of RL25!! Is getting me 2830 FPS,SD12,RS 32.
Seated at 3.000 col.
2 extra grains yielded an extra 50 FPS.
Still showing a sight extraction swipe, but bolt lift is still as smooth as butter.
Actually after inspecting all the fired brass, there appears to be a slight extraction swipe.
I found a nice load, but it’s slow.. lol
55grain RL25!!
2626 FPS
SD 4
ES 13
Seated 2.950
.6 MOA

Maybe they used the wrong powder
I’m sure the bottle said RL25… this time.
Maybe it’s the chronograph?
I did buy the powder from a guy who had both 25 and 26, it could be a mixture of both for all I know. Lol
I’ve got 99 loaded rounds so far and I’m sure there’s enough left for another 40.
Who knows.. lol

I have RL26,H1000 and 8133 on the way,so we’ll see.

I have Hornady #11 manual.

55.5 grain RL25 = 3000 FPS 26 inch barrel
I’m getting 2626 out of a 22 inch barrel.

374 FPS less out of 4 inches of barrel seems like an excessive amount of lost FPS

Tikka's are notorious for having slow barrels, that is most likely some of your problem plus barrels will speed up once broken in.
