6.5 PRC powders of choice

Having a 6.5 PRC built. What powders are you guys using? Looks like H1000 and VV565 are pretty popular.
 
I have had success with VV565. VV568 did work out for heavier stuff but I have been unable to finish load development with it. I also had good luck with superformance but not exactly temperature stable.

What projectiles do you have in mind ? Heavy for caliber or lighter stuff ? I tried VV565 with a range of weights and it seemed to do well.

I just finished building a 6.5 PRC on a Tikka action 22-inch barrel. I'll have the barrel torqued tomorrow and hopefully do some barrel break-in and velocity testing later in the week. I have H1000, VV 565, VV 550 and H4831SC to try with the 143gr ELDX. I'll keep you posted.

Sweet! Same here, a Tikka with a 22" IBI barrel.
 
All I could get when I got my new tikka 6.5 PRC was H-1000. Was lookin at Retumbo and the 4831 SSC as well, but unobtanium at the time. So I bought 3 lbs of the H-1000.

Right out of the gate, during my load development, my hand loads and the H-1000 impressed the chit outta me !!
Both my Tikka TAC & my Browning LR Max(bought a few months for a range plinker) loved the hotter end of the hand loads. Right near max @ 59.9 gr ! NO pressure signs for me in either rifle, other than a slightly flattened primer face !
I easily found loads for my Nosler BT 120 grainers, 129 LRAB's, and my Hornady 143's & 147 ELDX's ! My Browning shot all the "try" loads I had left over from my Tikka with amazing results ! Liked the final loads as well. Not a lot of development done for it...no need to.

Unfortunately, health issues forced me to sell my Browning..kept my Tikka cuz it was love at first shot, and it shot a bit tighter than my LR Max ! !
 
When I first got my 6.5PRC, R26 was available, so I tried it, and it works extremely well, so I purchased several pounds. I tried a few other powders with a friend's rifle, and IMR7828 does well in his rifle.
 
I was using WLR Primers for all my load development. Once finished, I then used some of the new RWS primers with my verified loads. I was very happy to see those tight groups remain the same.
 
My loads were developed and worked up for MY rifle and may NOT yield the same results for you. Watch for over pressure signs as you go...start down on the lower side and work up in half grain increments. WHEN / IF you hit a good powder node you'll have a few 10ths of a grain on either side of that load to try again to tighten up the group.
