I would like to know if the noted above cartridge fit's into a Remington short or long action.....my next build. Thanks!

You'll want a long action. It can be made to fit a short action but needs a lot of gunsmithing to feed and to eject a loaded cartridge reliably, and using heavier bullets seated to their optimum depth will cause many a problem even so.

Really? 6.5PRC was designed for a short action?

I read that loads with an OAL longer than 2.80" have had to modify their actions by cutting or machining a notch in the feed ramp.

I built one a couple of year ago on a long action Tikka T3X action that originally was in a 300WM.

Designed for short action. Can be used in WSM action lengths I believe Rem700/clones can handle the short action. (Christensen Arms) I believe uses their short action.

I run a Tikka so I just have multiple Bolt stops :D

If you want to run the heavy weight bullets and run max/longer OAL then you might want to look at a long action. (Berger 156 gr EOL are what I am thinking of or the Nosler Accubond LR 150 gr)

I was hoping a person could build on the long action with this cartridge. A 700 magnum action with a bolt face of .532" should suffice? I want to start off with the 130 gr. Accubond and then the 125 gr. Partition, probably go with a 1:9 twist, 26" barrel.

I'm not sure how well the long action will work, like if you'd need a magazine stop of some kind. Unfortunately the 6.5 is a bit of an in-between size and I didn't want to chance a Remington build either way so I went with a Ruger rifle instead. I know there are some builds online that used the long 700 action with good success but I'd talk to an experienced builder like Insite before forging onward.

With a long action and a 26 “ barrel and a coal of 3.0 “ and about 60 grs RL26 should get you close to 3300 fps Track -
Bullet is too short for more then a 3 “ coal
In a reg Accubond the 140 would be a better choice and either the 129 or 142 ABLR would be FAR better at long range! BC’s are WAY higher with the ABLR bullets . Prob get 31OO + with the 142 grer.
Also 1-8 twist too for the over 130 gr ers JMO
I’m gonna get back to playing with mine SOON too .

Go long action. I had a couple factory rifles in 6.5 PRC , one browning and one Christensen and quickly ran into magazine length issues. I’d go an 8 twist as well, more options for bigger bullets down the road. Fully plan your build thinking long term, to give yourself options. I’d first find good dies, brass and other components before even getting the rifle built.

It's designed around heavy for cal bullets, 1/8 twist or quicker. Not sure I'd go 1/9 and shoot 120's-130's. You can do that with a 6.5 Swede

I’d find a nicely stocked Sako, Tikka, M70, Kimber, Browning in an “undesirable” WSM chambering and stick an 8T stainless barrel on it. I did a few SA Remington 700’s on a 6.5 RM but used a Wyatt mag box.

A 270 wsm would likely out run a 6.5 PRC/RM at sane hunting distances but that’s all I’ll say about that.

+1 on all points

I was getting 3150 fps with 160 gr accubonds using 69 grns of RL26 from my kimber 7wsm.
