A 270 wsm would likely out run a 6.5 PRC/RM at sane hunting distances but that’s all I’ll say about that.
Jerrya what bullet and load works Well from your rifle ? RJ
You just happen to be ultra-fixated on brass.
Check PR consignment for a nice m70 264 win mag track
I have killed a lot of things with so called crap brass. And will continue to do so.

ADG case, 56.5 gr rl26, fed 210 primer and 140 accubonds. I get an av. of 3045'/sec.
I did load development for a 6.5 PRC built on a LA m700, it was previously a 7mm Rem Mag. Function was just fine, no problems.
A SA m700 with a Wyatt mag box will fit a SAAMI 6.5 PRC nicely. If you're looking at shooting shorter bullets like the 130gr NAB and 125gr NP, then a standard mag box off a m700 WSM/SAUM will work. A buddy has a 6.5 PRC built off from a Remington Model Seven 300 SAUM donor, he loads the 140gr NAB to 2.815" OAL. Only drawback is you wouldn't be able to mag feed SAAMI factory 6.5 PRC ammo (2.95")
Thanks for the tips, however I know that I will going with my very first choice, the 6.5-06. To me, it appears that there is always something with short actions that complicate fundamentals. I'll go with the tried and true, had one before and with new powders, bullets etc, it will work better than before.

Short actions can be a pain in the ass I totally agree. Honestly it’s why I choose tikka. One action runs it all minus maybe the really long ones but for your standard stuff it’s perfect.
I’m curious how the 6.5-06 performs please update us on the build.
Just go with the 6.5-284 exact same performance as the 6.5-06 and quality head stamped brass available, not that theres anything wrong with the 6.5-06 as I was going to build one and a cpl gunsmiths said why when the 6.5-284 does the same thing.
I've had a 6.5-06 AI, it performed well and will slightly exceed the PRC performance. A standard 6.5-06 should be the ballistic twin to the PRC
