6.5 wsm comments

I remember seeing a bunch about it on some other forms. Do a google search and I'm sure you'll find plenty of info.

I've sure thought about it. I can't see the barrel life being much worse than a 7 wsm. We need a nice long premium bonded bullet around 150-160gr to really make it shine. But then it would probably require a long action.

I've read often that Winchester didn't pursue a .257 WSM specifically because of barrel life issues.

So they came up with a stubby little .257 WSSM, which isn't one iota better than a 25.06.

i want one cause i love my 260 6.5x55 and would love to have one special 6.5 wsm for those lovely 550 yard shots. 140 grain would go nicely with it. too bad i never heard of a 160 gr bt hp

I was just asking about getting a 140gr .264 bullet up to 3000fps over in the Precision forum and this cartridge came up. Shilen offers pre-chambered barrels for it, with two options offered. I am still searching for more info at this point.

hey all .anyone out there ever dare to make a 6.5 wsm ? if so comments... anyone else out there that would love to own one?:D
I shot one for about ten years, and a 6.5WSSM as well.
Both cartridges are used extensivly in 1,000 BR competition.

Both of mine were fantastic , byuilt on Browning single shot actions.
