6.5 X 55 for long range

HD, I thought there was an open class where you could shoot whatever you wanted within the range template?

I can see it not being allowed in the service/LE class as it would lay the boots to any 223 or 308.

If further testing pans out, the 308 may also be on shaky ground in this class as we figure out how to make the 90gr 22cal VLD's work.

Sorry... not banned banned, just not allowed for the general comp. You can still use it for fun in the open class. Not that I remember anyone shooting in the open class.

The Precision Rifle matches the ORA puts on established "Classes" based on bullet BC's to level out the players.
Seems to have worked well and was well accepted.
We have a fair number of "Unlimited" competitors but more in the 308 and 223 classes.
It's ALL fun.
Go LOUD.

UPDATE; As promised, a range report from my custom 6.5x55 that I bought here on CGN. Only had 16 rounds loaded as it arrived unexpectedly (wasn't sure it was coming for a while) but it made the most of them. Printed .3" groups@ 100 yds with norma factory and .2" with Sierra 140's. The rifle is extremely accurate, SCAREY accurate, hitting 2 ft gong at 1000 no problem. Never thought that I'd consider a 1000 yd range not long enough till today. Sure hope weather stays nice so I can go to my own little (2000 yd) range and push it even further. VERY, VERY impressed with this rifle. I own a few accurate rifles, but I've never had my hands on something like this. Will post pics of rifle in a couple days. Thanks again one and all for your input and advice

well the junker I'm selling on ee, has a Schultz and larson Otterup 28 inch tube , and by the blue book those rifles were over 1k , its 4 digit, on barrel , and bolt, the rifling sure looks finely cut.
Maybe I will give her a go, after reading this thread.:D

"Cut " them there, then "paste" them in your CGN post (use the HTML format at photobucket when you have the choice)
