No bolt came out of a .284
Win brass it's all I could find
There isn't much out there
We bought up everything we could find

This rifle was built for a 300-600 yard elk rifle it's about 8
Lbs the area we hunt is filled with elk but the last 3 I have taken were 380 yards
562 yards and 680
Most opportunities are at 300 +

Great looking rig! I'm having Terry put together a 260 for me that is intended to be my new deer rifle. Aside from the Manners stock and short action it will look very similar to yours. Seeing your pics just made the wait that much harder!

Not trying to take the wind out of your sails but even in heavy mirage at 100yds, one should be able to get that custom rig to shoot 3/4-1 moa at bare minimum, and better in optimal shooting conditions.

You either need to do more load development or retest in the evening (7PM-9PM) or early morning (sunrise).

If my custom rig was shooting 2" at 100yds, even in heavy mirage, I would be taking it back to the builder and having them borescope the barrel.

With proper load development that build should shoot 1/4-1/2moa.

X2, but I would like to add that I would not be doing much load development during those temperatures unless you plan on hunting in
similar conditions. The other thing I would mention is I would let the barrel cool right down between shots and check for fowling even though
Kriegers are good barrels, early morning or late afternoon for the shooting. If you find yourself having problems with the haze/mirage
turn the power on your scope down, six to eight power is ample for precise shot placement at 100yds. and you will have an easier time aiming.
BTW nice looking rig.

I don't want to get into a big debate, but from my experience from many years of Elk hunting, I would want a bigger Caliber for
Bull Elk hunting. I find that when the bulls are rutting, they are "pumped" up and don't like to go down very easily. Of course shot
placement is critical, but I think a 6.5 x 55 at 300-600 yards is quite light (in my opinion).....

I usually use a tikka m65 in 7mm mag
Doped up with Hornaby sst .
But from the experience of all the target shooters
Elk happens is seconds and reality is
I practice shooting as such sure I can get a vice and show you guys
.5 Moa or better with a cool down shot in between is not reality
More like 5 shots right now
To the experienced elk hunter break the from shoulder so it dosent walk away
A lung shot don't work on a bull .
Oh yea I ran the ballistics I have 1600 ft lb at 500 yards

The muzzle break is so there is no recoil
It's like shooting a 22

The scope fixed 20 no way to turn it down
