Anybody ever use these for hunting?

I have a box of them that have been collecting dust on my shelf for a few years. I was planning on shooting the 130 grain Accubonds this fall in my 260, but I think I might give these a try instead. They seemed to perform well in BCSteve's bullet test

I'll be using them on deer, small bull moose if I get a chance at an immature, and in the unlikely event I can go goat hunting, mountain goat. :)

I got four boxes of Accubonds, but figure I might give these Partitions a shot first. I know I just wont use them if I dont hunt with them :D I loaded twenty rounds up to test, sometime this week.

Mark; That 125 Partition was Made for your 260 Remington!! You should get 3000 or so with it and it will probably shoot better groups than you think it will. My 6.5x55 will put 3 into one ragged hole at 100 meters at 3025 fps, and they sure do tip over a deer effectively. This shoots about as flat as the 130 grain 270, so it is a good one to reach out with also. Regards, Eagleye.

I use the 125 gr NP in my 6.5-06 and have had excellent results on Antelope/mD/WT and coyotes ant ranges from 100-350 yards, Pretty much as close to the perfect bullet wt in this caliber and I would have no problem tackling smaller moose/ cow elk or bib deer, Actaully I prefer the NP to the AC and TSX as you KNOW you will bet expansion at all ranges with it. I plan on using it this fall on MY wt and Antelope hunts.

well I tried the 125 grain Noslers today, and they shoot pretty decent in my 260 Remington. Over 48 grains of H4831 I was getting 2890 fps average and groups ran from .6" to 1.25"

I used to shoot the 140 Nosler in my first 260, a few years ago. It worked excellent on the couple deer I took with that load. I think I'll try some more 125's at further distances before I will try something different, and when I do, the 130 Accubond is closer in line than a 140 Partition :D

Hey, what's going on!? I thought you were Mr. Barnes? No 120gr TSX BT? That's what I'm loading this year in my 6.5x55.

126 Np

I love the 125 grain NP in my Swede for deer / caribou hunting. I really don't see much difference between the 125 and 140 grain partitions on game so would use which ever shoots better or you have more of. I have never recovered a partition of either weight when used against deer or caribou. I have shot several moose with the 140 grain bullet and only recovered one (on the far side).

I shoot quite a few Hornady bullets for practice and save the partitions for checking groups and hunting. They offer similar trajectories in my rifle at hunting ranges.

3000?! Do you mean 3000 feet per second MV out of a 260? What load, do tell. I tried but couldn't come close to that without massive signs of pressure. I got a good load in 48.5 grn H4831SC, Rem 9 1/2 primer and 125 Grn Ptn at around 2800+ fps. I'm curious.

Now back to the .264 bore discussion. I think the 125 gr partitions would be an awesome round from a 260. I don't own a 260 yet, but I'd go with something like that, or as mentioned the 130 gr accubonds, I'll be shooting these out of my 6.5 wsm this fall for deer........if I don't decide to carry my 25/06 AI. Thats the only decision that's really pulling at me. Lighter game, like deer and caribou will be on the list for 125 gr partitions from a 260....when I get one;)

Like I mentioned I got 2890 fps with 48 grains of H4831sc (F210M - Nosler brass). I have a 23" tube with 1:8 twist, and its tight on specs so a little on the fast side. No high pressure signs with my load there though.

FWIW Ive pushed 129 gr SST's to 2970 f/s in my 260 with H4350, with no overpressure signs, although I backed off to 2850 fps because thats plenty fast for me :)
