6.5mm PRC Tikka Custom Build Help

Evening,

Hope I can get some help with a build on a Tikka T3x platform. I am wanting to build a 6.5mm PRC and I'm not sure I am finding all the info I need.

Is it going to be possible to run PRC out of a WSM (Short bolt pull and WSM mags?) or will I need to run the long magnum mag (300WM) and a full length bolt stop?

I built my PRC on a long action T3X. The WSM length mags will not allow you to shoot factory ammo because the OAL is 2.955" on the PRC

Thanks guys for the update! I picked up a 300WM which will be the donor action. I did finally find the OAL info on mag and 6.5prc, but I appreciate the help. I've done a few customs on Tikka's before and I have remained impressed.

I will look into Christensen arms - do they essentially use a 700 action?
 
The Christensen Arms action is very close to a 700, it takes the same stocks and trigger. They're good rifles

I am working on another Tikka 6.5 PRC build right now, donor is a T3 300wm.
 
I put a 3 contour Fluted 8 twist Benchmark on mine, the other Tikka PRC I'm working on is same, but not fluted. Also working on a 3rd PRC for a friend, 2 contour Benchmark Fluted 22.5" 1:8 for a Model Seven sheep slayer. All barrels purchased from Gary @ Bighorn Sales. He is top notch
 
I'm not sure about which manufacturer for barrels. I have had Bartein 5R #3 contour for a 300 WSM T3 build, Lilja #4 contour, and have also had kreiger in a m40 and shilen Rem varm contour. I cannot honestly say I appreciate any difference between how they shoot. The 300WSM Tikka build with McMillan gamescout is my go to comparison. I don't find it overly heavy, but I don't think it would hurt to shed a bit more either.

I'm looking for a similar contour to the Bartlein #3 and Lilja #4, perhaps a little trimmer to save a bit more weight. Finish for 24" 1:8" twist.
 
So far so good with Benchmark, Bartlein, Krieger, going to try a cpl HawkHill Barrels and see how they shoot !

Going to build another 6.5 PRC with a HawkHill Barrel, not sure which action I’m going to use yet ?

Yes, they ARE 700 actions. Christiansen simply mills off the Remington name, logo and such.
 
Remington may have fried their name but their action is still a very good action and the Christensen Arms are beautifully made. I personally like the Mesa, Ridgeline, and MPR the most. Id take them over a Fierce any day and the Fierce is a Sako 75 action.
 
Build is coming along.

This is what I have in mind so far and what I am organizing. Corlane's is going to do this build for me.

Tikka 300WM donor rifle
McMillan Gamescout w/ Edgetech
Benchmark #3 or #4 (fluted) contour
Atlas bottom metal (accept tikka mags)
Standard tikka trigger (I like them)

The Benchmark #4 fluted will weigh the same as the #3 I'm not sure which to go with. I guess I've always wanted a spiral fluted barrel.....

Thoughts?
 
If you have the budget go for the spiral fluting, it does look cool
My Tikka 6.5x47L is a Benchmark #3 great barrel...ordered from Gary at Bighorn
