Gord. I took a chamber cast of the offending area. The barrel will need to be set back two turns to index and then chambered to correct headspace. I don't know who chambered it or exactly how it was screwed up but the front 90 thou of the body is 4 thou smaller... this is where the front of the case is binding... it does not engage the headspace gauge so the headspace indicates it is correct... but a live round will not chamber. There is a possibility a reamer could be run in to depth and cut the front 90 thou to correct diameter... it's a try and see situation.
Neat pic guntech.
Different neck diameters of the 6.5/284 chambers/reamers often force you to set back the entire length of the neck and rechamber. The no turn 298 neck is the one I've used with Lapua brass.
Here is an after picture.. I was able to run the reamer in and correct the bad chamber... the reamer cut the full body as well... not just the flawed shoulder area. Headspace was correct and still is. The neck has a slight 'bump' measure about 1.5 thou smaller at the front. Not worth setting the barrel back the length of the neck.
