6.5x300 Win Mag??? Experiances

why not just go with the 7mm RUM? Shoots a TSX flatter than a 22/250 shooting a 55 gr, lots of brass, and factory chamberings if you are inclined to go that way. You could go to a 6.5 RUM or a 6.5/300 weatherby, but I can't see the advantage,

Unless you're REALLY wanting a 6.5, then this is the best suggestion yet I think.

If you are liking the 6.5's, I've heard of guys liking the 6.5 WSM quite a bit. Not quite as zippy as the 6.5-300 weatherby, but more common brass and short action.

Also consider the 6.5-06 and improved versions. They will push a 140gr over 2900fps in a 24" barrel. Mine shot great. With a shorter barrel common to hunting rifles, you really don't see a huge gain when going to magnum cases.

Remind me to get my 6.5 Mystic out for you when we go play. If you haven't shot a 6.5 in the wind, you will like.

IF you do decide to go with a magnum, I would suggest the 7RM. yep, run of the mill and common place until you see what the 162gr Amax, 168gr and 180gr Bergers can do at LR.

Better ballistics AND hitting power.

Interesting concept but aside for open arctic tundra and the prairie provinces... How many people on this board are actually capable of seeing game let alone hunt out to 1000 yds?
Happens here quite often actually!
We put our first 6.5WSM wildcats together to do just that - plinking and deer all the way out to 1K
