So as the title says, I need some help with a 6.5x47 Lapua build. I want to build the rifle my self, either on a Savage, or Remington action. So what I need is some Advice from the great minds of CGN's. The problem Im running into is That I can not decide on which action to use. I have a short action Rem 700 I could use for the build, but I am not able to blue print the action my self. This leads me to my first question. Has anyone seen the difference in accuracy between a blue printed and a non blue printed action? I would really like to use the Remington action because i would like to use either a AICS AW, or a Cadex Defence chassis for the build. My second question is in regards to using a Savage 10 action, and the after market parts support. Im having a hard time trying to figure out which combination of bottom metal and a stock to use. I would like to use either a manners or Mcmillan stock, and a 5-10 round magazine. Has anyone used either of these stocks, and if so what bottom metal did You use? I plan on using a Shilen or Mcgowan prechambered about 24" long and a heavy conture, not a full on bench rest barrel, but still heavy. Any help or suggestions would be awesome!
Thanks!

I would start with the action you already have. if the action is properly bedded in the stock . it should not make a difference if it is or not blue printed.

Stay with the Remington, there is much better selection for aftermarket parts, triggers, stocks etc. All of the four stocks you mention are available for the Remmy. But if you are wanting to install a pre-fit barrell yourself without having to mess with a finish reamer or pay for a smith to install it you have to go with the Savage.

Avoid the Savage 10 actions with the bottom bolt release at all costs as it really limits the already short list of aftermarket that you can use.

So I went with my Remington action, and I got an AICS for it. I also ordered a Mcgowen prefit barrel, that uses a barrel nut. Install should be fairly straight forward. My go and no-go guages came in last week.

Keep us informed as to how the build works. I am presently considering building a 6.5x47 Lapua on either a Rem 700 or a Savage Target single shot action come the new year. I like the idea of a pre-fit barrel to simplify things. Did you get it chambered as well? I am not worried about stocks as I will make it myself.

I will post updates on my build. I will try to post pictures aswell. I got the barrel chambered my Mcgowen. The barrel is SS matte finish 24" long with an 11 degree crown in the Remington Sendero contour. Im hoping to order a Surgeon Tactical bolt knob for it aswell. I will also be ordering a Pacific Tool and Gauge Remington 700 action blue printing kit aswell.
