6.5x47L 130vld and H4350

I’m getting 2845fps from 40.4 and one hole 5 shot groups with a sporter weight 25” barrel. VLDH.
I’ve seen one guy run up to 43g with apparently no pressure and well over 3000fps

What load / speed are you shooting now?

Just under 2600, 24” barrel with 38 grains 2.800” coal and cci450. I started with 38gr working through to 41.5 in half grain incrinents and no pressure signs. The 38 grain load shoots 0.140’s so I just called it good. Maybes I will try 42, 42.5, 43 and see if I get any pressure and see where the groups fall then tweak from there.

I agree with furtaker Varget is my go to with my 6.5X47 I run 140 rdf in my current barrel at 2760s with es of 10 over 10 shots.

I never had good luck with varget, when I switched to h4350 groups shrank considerably. Although I did change primers at the same time too, from br4 to 450 although some say they are the same.

This is my H4350 load with 130. 25C day. Magnetospeed. Had 2 other strings with lower ES but can’t find them lol

Series 3 Shots: 5
Min 2836 Max 2845
Avg 2839 S-D 4
ES 9

Series Shot Speed
3 1 2845 ft/sec
3 2 2836 ft/sec
3 3 2837 ft/sec
3 4 2836 ft/sec
3 5 2842 ft/sec

I have a part box of the old style 130 Berger hunting vlds they measure 1.370 compared to the new ones that ae 1.320. 2.820 to the lands with the old style so I loaded some up at 2.830 coal. For the guys running 43 grains they must be seated a lot longer or they are doing some serious powder squishing. I started crunching powder at 41.5.

That was too bad they messed around with the 130 Berger hunting vld.
Just when you get it figured out, they change the bullet and don't change the part number.

The president of Berger, Eric Stecker, talks about the change in post 10 here. They stopped making that length of jacket, and the old 130 didn't have enough lead in the nose apparently.

I shoot 130 Hybrids with 40.4..... +/- 0.4 gr from 40.5 seems to be a pretty popular accuracy load with VLD's and Hybrids
However
Then i tried Varget out and its now my goto load - 37.2gr. My rifle simply likes Varget more than H4350.

Well I gave varget another go under 136 scenars and it’s shooting in the low .2’s so I’ll call it good until I can get out to verify MV. What’s the farthest you guys have taken your 6.5L out too?
