6.5x52 Carcano

I guess no need to redact the username. I can say I was very pleased with Dakotamar's bullets and communications, so deal with confidence if you want some cast carcano bullets
thanks DiMP. As stated this is not a full time gig for me, i'll make extras when i pour some for myself. as this is a bit of an odd caliber to find I can offer this bullet up. shoots well with unique, not so well with 4895. I don't put gas checks on if you choose the gc bullet. i can alox them or you can powder coat them, your choice. bullets basically come nakid or alox. you can pm for any other info.

Brought the 12 rounds I loaded of the 139gr PPU FMJ (with 32.0gr IMR4064) to the range this morning. Had to head out there to change the range lock anyways for the new combo for the new year. It was about minus 11 and windy, so I made it quick. Shooting off my elbows I was able to group all 12 shots into just shy of 4" at 50 yards. The two 6 shot strings were each about a 3" group but I must have been sighting slightly different or the barrel had heated slightly as the two groups were slightly shifted from each other making the entire 12 shot string a bit bigger overall

That doesn't sound too bad I should order up some of those 139's and try that out. What did you seat them out too ?.
I have a bunch of the 123 SP's on hand but I guess they don't stabilize and group that great.

I ended up ordering 10 of the lee .267 carcano expanders as shipping was crazy for just one if anyone needs one let me know and I will toss it in a envelope and send it out to ya for free.

Has anyone modified the front sight and if so what height did you end up with to shoot point of aim at 100 yards ?. I am going to try and do some weld build up and then file mine down.

Mesure the distance between your sights. Left side is the correction at 100y and the sight elevation you need to ad or substract to get it.

A number of years ago I ordered a custom cast bullet sizing die from Lee. I think it was either .269 or .270 dia for my Carcano. I also have a few cast bullet molds for my 270 Win which generally throw about .278 (or can be sized to that). My thoughts were to size my 270 cast down to a size I can shoot in my Carcano. Unfortunately I haven't tried it yet but I thought I would just mention it.

With my rifle, I changed the front sight. I picked it up on EE cheap as someone had tried to sporterize it. I put on a temporary front sight blade and figured the height I needed to hit the bullseye at 100 yds. I then took it to a local gunsmith who filed the dovetail and put on a higher front sight. No regrets.

Hopefully try out some of the PPU .268 123gr bullets next week.
If youtube is any indicator not expecting much for accuracy with such a light bullet. I would be happy with 6 moa.

I still have a bunch of those LEE .267 carcano expanders so if anyone wants one I will ship it out free to you.

Any reason you can't use 6.5x54 MS data and start at the minimum loads then work up .Lyman lists IMR 4227......13gr/1382fps.......21gr /1953fps................. IMR 4198 ........16gr/1510fps........22gr/1915fps IMR4895.........19gr/1400fps............30gr/2132fps .........for the 143gr bullet?
Sure, why not? The Greeks rechambered their Carcanos to 6.5 Mannlicher.
