Hi all,

After doing a bunch of searching I was able to gleen a bunch of good information about loading 6.5x55. Most of it was geared toward old military rifles or new made rifles such as tikka's.

I was not able to find any information about loading 6.5x55 in a husky 1940 though. So, for those of you who have one, what have you found that works good? What is a good combination that I should try?

Thanks

I have been loading Varget under 95 gr V-Max and 140 gr SST. I have a sporterized M96 turned down to 21" barrel and recrowned.

It loves both loads, as does my stock M96.

What is your OAL for the 140 sst's?

140gr SST 32gr Varget with Min OAL of 3.030 you can work your way up to 36gr, but I found my two were both happier at 32gr with this bullet.

In the 95gr V-Max 39gr Varget with Min OAL of 2.850

I have more than one rifle in this calibre, so I use the Lee Factory Crimp Die, and put a medium crimp on it.

If it's on a Mauser 98 action which I believe most Huskies are then it should be able to handle any load; military or modern commercial.

The 1640 were not manufactured before end of 1952, and HVA did not produce commercial rifles chambered for the 6.5X55 prior to 1942-43 (mod. 46B) and again in 1944 (mod. 646).
Anyhow, if it's a M/38 based rifle, any load suitable for the military rifle will work and if it's a M/98 or 1640 based rfile, you can push it a bit sturdier, same as for modern actions.
