6.5x55 in modern rifles

Most of todays data on 6.5 swede is running at 45,000psi now i know that there are some modern rifles on the market today .Does anyone have some hotter loads and what limits they have reached as far as velocity can the brass take the higher pressures or should i just leave well enough alone. thanks slipp 6.5 swede slave
 
no need to muck with pressures

Pick up the old version of the Hornady reloading manual. I have had all the speed I need and no pressure spikes. Call me old fashion I use IMR 4895 and IMR 4320 for my recipes.
 
in a modern rifle you should be safe in using 260 remington data

I run a 129 @ 2850 fps and the 260 has a bit less capacity than the Swede
 
I have a Remington 700 Classic with a 24" barrel, and I love this rifle. One thing that I have observed with the 6.5x55 is that, despite it's modest case capacity, it will deliver maximum velocities only with slower powders. Some of the medium numbers like 4320, 4064 & 4895 give superb accuracy, but fail to give close to the potential velocity of this cartridge. Here are the figures in MY rifle at pressures that work well in it. (Good Brass life, No sticky extraction, no Case head expansion.) I use Lapua Brass and WLR primers exclusively. NONE of these loads should be used as is!!!! Please start 2-3 grains lower and work up! 120 gr Ballistic Tip 51 gr W760 for 3105 avg; 125 Partition 50.5 gr Reloder 19 for 3025 Avg; 129 Hornady, 49 gr H4831SC 2965 avg; 140 Partition, 48 gr Norma MRP or Reloder22, for 2825 & 2800 respectively; 160 Hornady RN, 45 gr Norma MRP for 2625;
156 gr. Norma RNSP, 45.5 gr Vihtavuori N165 for 2600. No flies on this old girl in a modern rifle. I have shot everything from rabbits to moose & Elk with mine, and it is a mild-mannered but effective chambering that is usually superbly acurate. For example my 125 Partition load will group right around 5/8 moa right out to 400 meters. I have an 11/16" 5-shot group at 300 with the 140 Sierra (I don't hunt this bullet, though) Enjoy your Swede! Regards, Eagleye.
 
E- Eye I have exactly the same rifle, dedinitely one of the best Classic chamberings out there. My son will be using it on his first deer hunt this fall and will likely be using a milder version of your loads. 2800 f/s with the 140 partition is a great elk/moose load for a young shooter at modest range. I also find that the modern rifles really like the slow powders at high velocity.
