I have just gotten a sweet M38 swedish mauser.

With european loads it is an awesome gun. 1"" at 100 yds is simple.
With american loads it is not so good. I know that is because the american loads are low power.

Can anyone share their best loads for the 6.5x55? If you have one specific to the M38 I would really appreciate it. PM or post for all to enjoy.

Thanks for your help

I watched a fellow shooting beside me at range shooting gun same as yours and also take his new Tika in 6.5x55 and the tika shot one hole 3 shots .200" CTC and at 300 3 under 1" his military gun shot like yours 1".
I know he was using Sierra 142gr MatchKings and powder was IMR 4064 under max load

I load for three different Swede Mausers. All of them shoot very well with their pet loads....which are all different from one another.

I haven't really experimented with match loads in them, but they seem to prefer max charges of slower powders like h4831 and h1000 when loading up 140gr hunting loads.

I just started loading for a modern action Tikka and it loves H4350 loaded to the max and actually one of the Swedes did as well when firing 129gr SST's

I had no problem working up and finding a decent load for an old swede I had. Im now playing with a Tikka M-65 and Im starting over. Even the powder / bullet combination is now in question .

With my 96 I was getting Moa or sometimes better with 46.5 grains of RL-22 behind 140gr. bullets (Nosler partition or Sierra Gamekings) . that gun did have an exceptional trigger I must ad which is not the case for my old Tikka.

*** If you want to try that load in your Swedish Mauser please start a few grains lower and work it up.
