6.5x55 no shoot so good

Looking for ideas I have a Voerre Titan in 6.5x55 and having trouble finding a load that works in this rifle I have been experimenting with RL22 and 140gr partitions and Sierra GKs but haven't found a load that shoots consistently
I measure each load new brass and run a clean barrel.

Anyone got any ideas or a differnt powder I should try?

Check the rate of twist in your bore. It may be 1-10 or 1-9. The SGK bullets may be to long for the twist rate and won't stabilise at the velocities your loading to. Not an uncommon problem with the 6.5 bore.

Try a flat based bullet, rather than a boat tail. If that doesn't work, try a 120 or 129 grain bullet.

If your twist rate is 1-8 or less, you have a different problem.
 
I'd take a good look at the rifle. Does it shoot factory ammo ok? Does the stock bear hard against the barrel? Does the muzzle crown look even? After you've looked at those, start looking at twist rate and reloading technique.

Try keeping the Barrel dirty for the next 50 rounds or so and check the basics bedding , trigger & mounts from my reloading a 6.5x 55 is a unfussy cal and go with RL 19 to start
 
RL22 , IMR 4831 and 4350 were the best powders for my old Husky with 130-140gr bullets, hunting or target. Got the best accuracy with RL22, but the others weren't far behind.
If memory serves, the 140 A-Max was the best target bullet I tried, and 130 Accubond for hunting.
 
36.5 gr IMR 4831. 140 gr Berger bt long range. from my gun 2750 fps. Groups of three almost touch at 200 yards. And I am not the be shot in the group.

While there has been all sorts of good advice, without knowing what is inconsistent (velocity, group size changes, group location changes.....) and without knowing your expectations, it is hard to know what suggestions to make. Perhaps you want a .25" group all of the time and are only getting .75" groups?
It may not be the load, could be the rifle or scope, or something else (range setup, bench, shooting technique....)
Could you be more specific on the problem?

Have you benchmarked the rifle with factory ammo ? Most 6.5x55's shoot the remington 140gr. ammo fairly well.

Both 6.5x55's that I have owned have shot well with the bullets and powder you mentioned.

Just curious, How much powder are you using in what make of brass ?
 
My M70 Winchester Featherweight has a 1 in 7.87" twist and has turned out great accuracy (3/4" at 100 yds) with 50.5 grs of H1000 and a 140 gr Speer spitzer.

Also good is 49 grs H380 with a 100 gr Hornady spire point. 3/8" group at 100 yds.

Also 44.5 grs H4831 with a 160 gr Hornady round nose. 13/16" at 100 yds.

And 44.2 grs H380 with a 120 gr Speer spitzer. For some reason the 120 gr bullets are the least accurate in my rifle with groups running 1 1/2" to 2" but very deadly - more "bang/flops" with the 120 gr. than the 140 or 160 gr. loads. I've never tried the 100 gr loads on deer - just "varmints".
 
I'm looking for a 1" group that I could live with, A chrony would probably be a good investment I'm sure but I thought this gun would shoot like a dream, brand new Nikon scope with Tally munts. I've tried sandbags and a lead sled with not much difference.
in accuracy between the 2 I've tried 46.5gr rl22, 45gr 4831,45gr4350 in combination with the 140grSGK, NP and SSts no consistent groups under 2"
