Hey all so ive been playing around alot latly with my M96 Swede. It has been sporterized with a new crate barrel(military replacement from tradeexcanada) and Boyds Prarie hunter stock and fixed ontop is a Burris 4.5x14x44 Fullfield 2.

So during my playing with bullets i have tryed Interlocks, SST and now Accubonds, (these bullets are for hunting white tail deer and Possibly moose) The interlocks have givin me the best accuracy with IMR 4831 but i ran out of that and got some RL22. Like the powder and am getting ok groups with it now.. I really like the accubonds and they will be my deer bullet for the 2013 deer season but i was wondering for moose i really like the look and style of the new Norma line up.. I believe these would be a better all round hunting bullet than the accubond or partition, what are your thoughts?

The new Norma are 156gr bullets in 3 styles.. the Oryx, Vulcan and Alaska.. Im thinking i would go with the Oryx or Alaska as my new bullet loaded to travel around the 2500fps mark as listed on there web page givin i can get there without signs of pressure. I have had hot loads in this rifle already with no signs of pressure, so im hoping this would be ok.

Has anyone every tried or had experience with these bullets to see how they preform on moose sized gave vs say a Partiton.. Cost wise is almost the exact same so im not to concerned about that.

Thanks all
Josh

Just check one of the sections on the hunting sporting section. There is a member who did a test of alot of 6.5x55 bullets. Lapua mega are great bullets and cheap. I went with woodleigh woodcore 160 grain. Can purchase them at tradex.

I use 42gr of either N204 of IMR 4350 and a 160gr Hornady or 156gr Sako RN and they will penetrate a deer lengthways and moose broadside. The gun doesn't care which load as all are accurate.

I think a premium 140gr. is best all around but that being said the Lapua 155's shoot really well for me and I have some Norma 156's to ive never tried (that should do as well). RL-22 work well for 140-160gr.

With the stellar performance of the 140 Partition in the 6.5 Swede, I have
never seen the need for those heavier bullets.

However, according to some reports, certain Swede rifles prefer the 156/160 grain bullets,
and shoot them more accurately than the 140's.

My personal experience has seen the Swedish mauser rifles shooting bullets from 100 grains and up well.

Regards, Eagleye.
