Hi All

Just picked up a LH Tikka T3 in this caliber. I am thinking of working up loads with 140 grain Nosler partitions, but the 125 grain, on paper, look like they have the edge. Does anyone have experience reloading this round and if so, what are you using for components, etc.? I will use it for hunting, but am really interested in seeing how accurate I can get with it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What are you hunting? I have had good results with RL-22 and Win 760 with most boolit weights. The lighter bullets work good for deer but for the bigger critters you might want to stick with the 140's. Let us know how it shoots.
 
I've been shooting Hornady 140gr SP and SST under an MOA with my Winchester FWT with RL22. I've also had good result with H4350 and H4831SC with 129gr. I have a box each of 120 and 130 TSX to play with this winter. Using Win brass and Fed 210 primers.
 
For punching paper I've been using 140 gr Hornady AMax's over H4831SC. The 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip also works well with that powder. The powder is not as temperature sensitive as some others so that is a consideration if you are going to use it in your hunting rigs as well. A quality hunting bullet in the same weight as your target bullet should give you similar results.

I have a good luck with Nosler Partition using Re22 - 48.0grain and OAL 3.18".

It is deadly on deer.

either the 125 or 140 grain Nosler will be an excellent choice for hunting deer, as will be the new-for-2007 130 grain Accubond

H4350, 4831, RL19, RL22, H1000, all good powders to try with bullets over 100 grains

for a off season target load, the Sierra 140 or 142 MatchKings, or 140 gr Amax really have impressive downrange ballistics, their BC is over .550 which really cuts through the wind at long range :cool:
