6.5x55 swede ammo

I guess I'm lucky. The 6.5x55 is by no means scarce around here in a community of 20 000 people. One local gunsmith carries 4 brands for it; Federal, Remington, Bell (Bosnia Herzegovenia) and some Czech stuff that's very popular. :)

I started handloading for a 6.5x55 and got the Lee Classic Loader because my budget for firearms activities is microscopic, considering my better half is always looking over my shoulder

In any case, all my best reloads are done with the Lee Loader. I have crappy brass that I use in a bench press, however with decent quality brass the Lee Loader is my favorite tool. I do everything except prime with it. I use a hand primer for that.

I tried a hand press, however I only crimp with it because I seem to lack the necessary strength to neck-size with it

Anyway, it was the best 20$ I ever spent. Makes a nice portable tool you can take to the range if you want to work on some loads.

:p

He not only sells a lot but he owns 10 6.5x55's so he's a fan too. By far the best guy to deal w/ I've ever come across.

I gotta look into one of these Lee Loader's; I'm hearing too many good things about them.

I dropped by LeBa_on and they still have some Remington CoreLokt, 140gr. I only got two boxes and left some for others to enjoy. They do not carry Lee loaders so if any of you knows of a place in the GTA where to find the Classic, please let me know. I will definitely consider reloading although I am a bit nervous (lack of knowledge I guess).Particularly the part with hammering the loader!

Particularly the part with hammering the loader!

Yes, I was also weak-knee'd when it came to hitting rounds with a hammer. I primed a couple of cases and did a heckovalot of hitting them with the hammer (with glasses and proper bodily protection) in all sorts of non-recommended ways and was satisfied that there was no danger. Must be my feminine side

Alot of people say that they have had primers go off when priming (the case is obviously empty, so other than your eardrums and possibly the bottom of your underwear there should be no damage  ), so I decided to avoid that and get a hand-priming tool to do the priming.

The rest of the time, when you are using the hammer the primer is protected by a drilled-out piece of steel. Impossible to set off under normal circumstances. Plus, you don't really need to bang it that hard to get the job done.

My only opinion of a drawback with the lee loader is that roll-crimping is not always equal, and sometimes if you are not careful you end up ruining the neck tension of the bullet. Best not crimp, or get a hand press and a factory crimp like I did.

Advantages are that it is very small, cheap and ultra-portable. Really cool to work up your loads at the range.

I would not get rid of it under any circumstances.

I got mine by calling Higgensons Powders, I always had good service there and including shipping it was less than 30$.
