Particularly the part with hammering the loader!
Yes, I was also weak-knee'd when it came to hitting rounds with a hammer. I primed a couple of cases and did a heckovalot of hitting them with the hammer (with glasses and proper bodily protection) in all sorts of non-recommended ways and was satisfied that there was no danger. Must be my feminine side
Alot of people say that they have had primers go off when priming (the case is obviously empty, so other than your eardrums and possibly the bottom of your underwear there should be no damage

), so I decided to avoid that and get a hand-priming tool to do the priming.
The rest of the time, when you are using the hammer the primer is protected by a drilled-out piece of steel. Impossible to set off under normal circumstances. Plus, you don't really need to bang it that hard to get the job done.
My only opinion of a drawback with the lee loader is that roll-crimping is not always equal, and sometimes if you are not careful you end up ruining the neck tension of the bullet. Best not crimp, or get a hand press and a factory crimp like I did.
Advantages are that it is very small, cheap and ultra-portable. Really cool to work up your loads at the range.
I would not get rid of it under any circumstances.
I got mine by calling Higgensons Powders, I always had good service there and including shipping it was less than 30$.
