Dear lads and ladies of the Order of the Swede,

I have read reams on various internet forums of how good Re19 is with 120-130gr class bullets in the 6.5x55. I have now tried it with a 120gr TTSX, 129gr Hornady SP and 130gr Matrix FB and nothing has worked really well. There has been some potential but for the most part mediocre at best 1.5-2MOA for 3 shots.

I am really wanting to work up a load with my 129gr Hornady SP's and have tried 45.5, 46.5 and 47.5gr of RE19 in Win brass, CCI200's and OAL of 3.03"/77mm. Results were not that good (2MOA class with 45.5gr a little tighter).

What say our expereinced 6.5x55 crew? Does anyone have experience with this bullet/powder combo? (I am shooting a T3 that shoots this bullet very well with N560).

Thanks!

For this burn rate, I do prefer one of the (with a bias for the "H") 4350 over the RL19, as RL19 is one of the most temperature sensitive powder I have tried.

Yep,
I have great loads for 140gr and RE22 but I am trying to figure this RE19 / 129gr thing out. I hear very good things, but don't see it yet!

I've had great results using RL22 with sierra 123gr matchkings. Initially I wanted to try RL19 with these bullets but since I had lots of RL22 I went ahead and tried my luck. I found a nice sweet spot at 46.5grains, and havnt looked back.

You need to load in 0.5gr increments at most if you are hoping to find a decent accuracy node. After finding a possible node I would try either side of it in a couple of steps of 0.2gr just to see if there is a really good spot in there.

Well - H4350 consistently has outshot Re19 in all of my 6.5 X 55's over the years. This applies to factory sporters and milsurps, perhaps 15 rifles in all. Needless to say, Re19 has left the building...

So far my best results have come from IMR4895. You need to find the burn rate your rifle likes which might take a ton of testing. Let us know how you make out.

For all I have read about how good RE19 is form various guys online there is one guy on 24Campfire who says he has had multiple 6.5x55's and in his words RE19 sucked in all of them - echoing your findings more or less. Oh well, I try a few more charge/OAL combos and then chalk it up to experience! As I said that same bullet shoots very well with N560 in my rifle.
Thanks for the responses.
