started load development today, very happy with my results.found a load of 47.5gr of h4831 with 140smk gave me a five shot group of 3/4" at 200 yds. my next best group was .8" of 47gr. definitely a good node there.I tried h4350 , and the best group i got was 1.2" with 45gr of powder. I was going to try 140 vld,but the smk shoot this well and not as finicky, i will stick with them for now. Will continue with the 4831 loads and see what happens. would like to try them at 500yds in the spring.:dancingbanana:

Try the Hornady SST 140 grain Interlock. It will shoot just as well but stands up better on game animals.

My T3 is happy with 46 to 48 grains of H4831 over CCI 250 primers. I backed it off to 46 grains and there was no difference in velocity. Velocities did increase slightly over 49 grains but primers started to excessively flatten. Accuracy was still good though.

I have loaded a fair amount and have found 44 gr of 4831 to be the most accurate using Hornady 140gr. Shoot these in my T3 and the Swedish Mauser that bearhunter sold my son.

We ran thee thru the chrony and got 2452/2453/2453 fps which surprised me. Guess my scale measured perfectly that day.

Try 47gr RE#22 and a 140gr or 48gr and a 130gr should make one hole.Win brass. This was in my son's T3 so work up to that if you want to experiment.Moose to antelope have dropped to those loads.Harold

i bought the sporter for a bench rest long range paper/steel rifle...for now. I have 6.5 creemoor for hunting/lr paper.I personally have never shot a 3/4" group at 200 yds before.I know it not all the rifle, but it is very comfortable to shoot off the bench. If I could keep shooting 3/8" moa at 500yds....or farther i would be excited to say the least.I need to shoot that load again to confirm it likes it,and get it over a chrony.
Rooster, I work outside all year round, don't always like to play outside, you keep the lane clear and I will travel to shoot with you as much as possible, as long as you supply the warm-up juice after!!

At Rooster's place, warm up juice drink you! You bring that T3 to me and I'll pay attention to it through 'til next spring when you're ready to become a good parent again;)

BTW, I have some RL-22 if you'd like to try a bit - seems so many have stated great success with it, it sure wouldn't hurt to give it a shot (no pun intended). I don't have anything anymore that I use it in.

Seriously though, is it getting too cold for you or are you just too busy with work, etc?

R-22 works very well in my T-3 Varmint, and in my friends T-3 Super Varmint, which are basically the same barreled action. We use the 142gr Matchking, and 46-49 gr of the lots of R-22 that we have.

its not getting too cold.....yet.Just long trips to either nosehill or to you to shoot, gotta b a little picky with the weather is all.If i can duplicate the 4831 load again, mite be hard to justify changing target loads in any way.
