Hi guys,

I know there has been much discussion about the 6.8 Rem SPC, but most of the threads I turned up with a search had to do with its characteristics and comparisons to other rounds. So I will pose this question in a new thread.

What is the general belief with this round in regards to longevity? Will this round be available in factory loads in the foreseeable future, or will it slowly fade away and become troublesome to find and even more expensive?

I ask this because before I invest in a firearm chambered in it I want to know that it will be around for a while in factory loads. I know I can always reload and probably will but I like know I can find factory stuff if the need arises or need components such as brass and bullets.

Thanks for the help. :)

Edit to add:

Or is this round gaining popularity and we could expect to see even more factory loads available and different bullet choices?

I dont see it going away in the USA, but I would worry about the US not allowing it to be exported because of their export regulations.

reload...

Get all the brass you need when you can, the rest is available. You can find .270 bullets anywhere.

Its a great round... wether using a 90gr for varmints, 110gr for coyotes, 115gr for target, or a 130gr for deer. I've made more of a selection of 6.8 rounds thn anything else I shoot.

It's here to stay.. er.. at least "there" to stay. It's wildy popular in the US. Factory loads are available here but brass is hit and miss. Hopefully it'll catch on here, but until then I'm happy being the only guy around my area that shoots it. It's created a lot of discussion at the range.

OK thanks for the replies.

So besides the cost, is there anything bad about the 6.8 SPC? Reading another thread it sounded like the export issue was sorted out, anything else?

What are you shooting it through and at?

I'm spitting them out of a Rem 700P in 6.8 and I think the round really shines in a bolt gun. It's a bit of a red-headed stepchild round, but I love it. Rem Premier match factory ammo is pretty good accuracy wise, but the options realy open up if you reload.

I will probably use it as a bush/truck gun so I was thinking a new Mini-14. I would'nt try to take anything bigger than a deer with it. I know the the mini is not a super acurate platform but I'm not looking for a target gun. And I wanted something different than a 7.62x39.
