6.8 SPC and 10rd mags?

Next on my list is the 6.8 kit for my XCR

Will 7.62x39 mags work? Or are there robinson 10rd 6.8 mags? (I know there are robinson 5rd 6.8 mags)

Or is everyone just using LAR 223/556 10rd mags loaded to 8?

7.62 and 6.8 spc both use the same mag.

We have found no difference between our 7.62x39 and the 6.8 mags, they will interchange OK, both 5 and 10 rd.

I haven't tried 7.62x39 mags with 6.8 but I know the 223 mags don't hold 6.8 well. You need a different follower and if you swap out followers on the LAR mag I think you may be making it illegal. Not sure if you can modify it and have it remain a legal pistol mag.
I don't really see much point in trying for higher capacity in the 6.8, it's too expensive to be popping off rounds rapid fire just wasting ammo and I plan to hunt with mine so am limited to 5 rounds for that anyway. I would swap back to x39 or 223 for when you want to shoot higher volume.

And increase you are interested....you can use your 10 round 7.62 x 39 mags to hold 13/14 rounds of 5.56

the 223 dont stack nicely and the second round doesnt stay in the mag, though ive never tried to see if they feed in my xcr and always assumed they would be failures

Didn't work well for me either. I grabbed a 7.62 x 39 mag I use in my 6.8 XCR by mistake for my 5.56 AR, the rounds didn't want to stay in the mag so I didn't bother trying it in the rifle.

Yes, I had no issues with the .223 feeding into my AR or Tavor

as an update:

i bought 20 rds of 6.8 since ive ordered my 6.8 barrel for my xcr (also have a die set now and Henry at BSS is helping me out with a Hornady shell plate and lee 6.8 fcd)



the robarms 7.62x39 10rd mags hold 11 rds of 6.8spc very nicely!!!!

Nice to know. Once I complete my 204 Ruger AR upper I've decided to build a 6.8 upper. Gotta give Wolverine a call and get some of those mags.
