Since ordering a Robinson Arms XCR in 223 the other day I have been checking into their conversion kits in 6.8 SPC & 7.62X39...

I know a lot about the 7.62X39 but very little if anything about the 6.8 SPC so I started doing some research on the 6.8 SPC round.

I found the following articles/link to the 6.8 SPC and thought I would share h ttp://demigodllc.com/articles/6.8-mm-spc-cartridge-history-development-hornady-stag-arms-carbine/

Thanks for the link...

Just picked me up a 6.8 SPC XCR on the weekend... so far I am impressed with it. Have only been doing handloads but with improvements in my loads I should be able to get sub-MOA groups with it soon. :D

They started making a 6.8 SPC Mini14 2 years ago I believe. Its on Rugers website.

Cool... thanks for this, and the link...! I'm not a Ruger fan, but this looks very interesting... Having said that, I'd rather just put a 6.8 upper on one of my AR lowers... I think it might give somewhat more flexibility...

Hmmm...

Thanks again...

6.8 SPC AR will be more expensive to feed and still can't be anything other a paper puncher at the range :(

OK... I get the restricted / paper punching angle, but why would it be more expensive to feed...?

The reason I think the Mini is interesting is that it's non-restricted... I'm not a hunter but I do understand that the Mini has added value / great appeal as it can be used for hunting as well as paper punching...

Simple, 6.8 SPC is more expensive to buy than good old .223

Aren't we comparing the relative merits of a Mini 14 chambered in 6.8 vs. an AR chambered in 6.8...!? The only real "argument" being that one is restricted and one isn't...!?

How did .223 get into the mix... unless I missed something (which I might have)...

You didn't missed a thing, however I have no idea how GIGGiDY manage to read "Ruger Mini14" from what I posted

There are no argument here that 6.8 SPC is better that a .223 when it comes to taking out into the bush to hunt, my comment is referring to your statement about putting a 6.8 SPC upper on your AR to give you some flexibility. As a restricted firearm .223 AR is more than enough for shooting paper target, switching a 6.8 SPC wouldn't really offer anything more other than higher cost.

Camp Cook - that spreadsheet is for handloads right??
As in, I can load Nosler 110gr Accubonds to shoot at 2550FPS and still be carrying 1000ft/lbs at 244yards?
I can sneak within 244 yards of a lot of animals!! :D Time to start rolling change for my XCR fund!

Ok, now that... makes sense. Thanks man...

From what I see yes...

I was on a site yesterday that I just happened on the guy posted this spread sheet and an amazing amount of info in regards to the 6.8 spc cartridge/bullets he had even done ballistic gel tests then I turned off my computer and lost the link.

If I can find it again I will post the link I have never seen a better set of tests/write up done.
