Thinking on a bolt rifle that would be chambered in 6.8spc, take 8-10rd mags about a 20" medium weight barrel, more of a sporter style stock. Something like this exist? This would be a 500yard max rifle, more important is 100-400yards and some fire power.

This what you mean? Remington made a run of them. They were called the Remington 700 6.8 SPC Tactical SS.
Once in a while you will see a used one for sale. Don't know about the mags though. 5 rounds only here I believe.

I've been considering a similar rifle for a while now. Can't see it being overly practical for me, but worth trying anyway.

The only mags that would work are AR mags, which means they're pinned to 5 anyway, unless you can find an AR pistol mag in 6.8(not sure if they're available here).

Mossberg is set to release a rifle that takes AR mags, but only in 223 for now (just found it on the firearms blog), so there is hope. At least this is a better idea than a 30-30 with quad rails.

I don't know if you're set on a 6.8SPC, but I've been leaning in the 300Blackout direction, just for mag compatability, using the available 10rd mags. Just need to find some bottom metal.

I think it was Kevin M on here that did his own conversion of a Rem 700 with a 30rd mag. You might find it in a search.

They are available here. I got a couple from Wolverine. They are actually marked 7.62 x 39 Pistol mags but can be used for the 6.8 SPC as well.

So we're halfway there. Just need some bottom metal that accepts AR mags, or rebarrel the new mossberg.

I was thinking (for my own little project) that new bottom metal on a Savage would be the easiest way to go. Then you just spin on a new barrel, and swap the bolt face and voila...

We can't be the only ones thinking about this. That new Ruger with the 10rd mag is selling pretty good. In 308Win but still...

Don't want to derail your plans but if you switch to a 308 based case(ie 7-08, 260...) you will have alot more options
