I have been hunting/shooting with a 6.8SPC for several years now my favorite most accurate loads are 95gr TTSX with either H322 or AA2200 powder.

Up until recently I had a 18.6" spec 11 chambered 1-11" twist barreled Robinson Arms XCR-L with uppers in 223 and 6.8spc but sold it, I found it sat in the safe more than it should.

I also have a 23" saami spec chamber 1-10" twist long throat stainless T/C Contender carbine barrel in 6.8spc and just this last week purchased a used Rem 700 short action 22" fluted barrel Light Tactical Model matte blue finish rifle haven't had a chance to check yet but this one should also have the saami spec long throat chamber and 1-10" twist barrel.

I did get the Rem to the gun club last night once I had the scope zeroed I was amazed with the accuracy I was getting with the Accubond loads that came with the rifle and my 95gr TTSX loads.

I have shot two 2 point mule deer bucks and one mule deer doe with the XCR-L and one 2X3 blacktail buck with the Contender all four with the 95gr TTSX loads 2880fps in the 18.6" barrel and 2960fps in the 23" barrel.

I'm planning on taking the Rem 700 out this coming weekend hopefully I'll finally connect on a shootable buck. .

I'm curious is there anyone else out there that is hunting deer/coyotes etc with a 6.8spc chambered rifle your thoughts and experiences will be totally appreciated.

I had an XCR a few years ago, recently purchased another one, this is the newest Keymod version, so far it seems to be shooting very well, I'm running 95gr TTSX with RL10X, at exactly 2850fps. I'm leaving for my deer hunt on Sunday, the XCR will come along and might get hunted if the conditions are right.

I too have a T/C contender carbine with a 6.8 SPC barrel. This is my first hunting season with it and have developed a real fondness for the rifle platform for sure. I've came up with two loads shooting MOA; 110gr NAB @ 2700fps and a 110gr Sierra Pro Hunter about 40fps slower ... both using H322 and they booth shoot to same POI at 100yds.

So far I'm 1 for 2 on attempted game. I took a coyote with the NAB at about 200yds but I shot a black bear with same load at about 60 yards and never recovered it. I'll have it out in the woods with me during deer season shortly so I'm hoping to get the odds back above 500.

BTW, those are some impressive velocities you are getting with those TTSX's - very nice!

Here are a couple pics of a 350 yard 3 shot group shot across a valley rest was a pack on the back rack of my quad rifle was my XCR-L loaded with 95gr TTSX @ 2825fps (my H322 loads).

I wasn't holding for windage 3rd shot hit in the dirt just missing the rock.

My 6.8SPC RA XCR-L in its early form I later updated it with a NEA then Dlask stock adapter/OD green CRT Magpul stock then a Robinson Arms FAST stock just sold this rifle.

Just purchased this beauty Rem 700 Light Tactical in 6.8SPC I mounted my Leupold VX111 4.5-14X40mm LR Varmint reticle scope when it got here.

I just went back on the xcr tank with 556 and 7.62x39 uppers. I was thinking of getting the parts for 6.8 conversion (just the conversion here, uppers are far to expensive for a second complete upper).. For the guys that have them, what do you think, is it worth it?

It was worth it for me all you do is push a lever change an upper/spring/bolt/mags and I was shooting again.

No re-zeroing a scope

Back40 I remember that deer now and as before very nice...

Well, I was fortunate enough to successfully take a whitetail doe with the contender using a 110gr Sierra pro hunter. Shot was about 60yds broadside through vitals. I never had a drop of blood to follow, and thankfully she only ran 75yds before expiring. Bullet hit a rib on the way in and I found it on inside of hide on other side....no exit. I'm not totally impressed with the results to be honest...I like exit holes! How do those 95gr ttsx perform on game? I can get them going around 2900fps in my contender.

From my experience the Prohunter is a 125 yard max bullet in the 6.8spc this is due to the bullet being designed to expand at higher velocities.

I do not use it for hunting game it is my plinking/fun bullet.

I have not recovered a 95gr TTSX so cannot say what they look like all the deer I have shot with it are DRT mind you max distance was probably only 125 - 150 yards.

Thanks CC. You've given me some hope for the ttsx.

Actually I am not totally truthful on recovering a 95gr TTSX that are designed to expand down to 1600fps.

I do have a pic of one of my recovered bullets but it was not from shooting into a game animal it was recovered from a 330 yard shot into moss/sand impact velocity was still appr 2050fps one of the petals broke off.

With AA2200 powder I get a muzzle velocity of 2960fps with the 95gr TTSX in my 23" barreled Contender barrel.

deerfarmer have you ever checked out the 6.8forum Home of the 6.8SPC http://68forums.com/forums/forum.php
