I was thinkin of taking the plunge into 6.8 ar to go with the 9mm and 5.56. I was going to start with the RRA mid length upper from Questar which I might see in june. Is it worth to have one? what is ammo like to get either factory or reloading and should I maybe not wait and source out the upper parts. $700 is not bad for an upper I think but any info would help. Thx

I have no experience with the RRA uppers, but I do have a 6.8.
For just punching paper, it's going to get expensive.
Brass lasts roughly 5 reloads and is around $ 35 for fifty.
Factory ammo can be hit and miss to find (at least around here).
It does not offer any better ballistics than the .223.

Just got my RA XCR-L in 6.8. I am super pumped, but I would advise as the others did, that the .223 will be much less expense for plinking.
1000 Rounds of .223 are around $389.99-$399.99. (Or much higher...)
1000 rounds of 6.8 are more like a $1000.00 (Please let me know if you find it cheaper!
