That is interesting.
I've never been a fan of the old school 243 but this 6mm Creed has promise.
It's a bit too hot for a 6 mm but a hand loader can always dial the load back to about 38 grains to extend barrel life.
Way more practical than the 243 which can take over 50 grains with some loads.

Everyone I talk to in the long distance game as well as have read state that there maybe a little difference in barrel life between 243 and 6 creed when hand loading but not much more. Love to hear from others out there with real world experience on this one.
I like the idea of Ruger taking the precision rifle game seriously, however I don't know about the 6mm Creedmoor for a mainstream rifle. The 6CM is tough to find factory ammo for if you can find it at all, while you can find 243 in any gun store around because it's pretty common. I get that they still have the 308 for people who prefer to buy off the shelf ammo, but I bet they sell fewer 6CM's than they did 243's. Just for the simple fact that your average hunter/shooter is going to look at the 6CM and think to himself where on earth he's going to get ammo for it, whereas he could walk into Canadian Tire and pick up some 243 and start shooting.
For the Precision shooter, who already reloads and is getting more into the game, I'm sure they'll like the 6CM option.

None of the 243 ammo you will find at any gun store is going to be suitable for LR shooting. For LR, you're reloading for the 243.

I realize that if someone is a Precision LR shooter, and they reload, they'll have no issues with the 6 Creedmoor. I'm just saying for the average guy who has never shot LR or Precision rifle before, he might be a little intimidated by it and want a caliber he's more familiar with.
