Summer finally came to the Yukon, it was between 25 and 30 deg today. I hit the range at 1:00 pm and left at 7:00 pm, and I'm beat. Had some great successes though and only a couple abissmal failures.
Took the 204, 22-250, 250 sav, 257 Bob, 7mm-08, 300 Wby, 340 Wby. Managed 1/2" with the 204, 22-250.........sub 1" with the Bob and 300 Wby....1 1/4" with the 250 sav and 7mm-08 (both full stocks) and found that my 340 hates 225 Accubonds..3-6"
Will try to post some pics if I can find my camera......went through 2 batteries in my brand spanking new Oehler 35P.
Had 20 test loads for the 204.......4 X 5
25 for the 22-250 5 X 5
60 for the 250 Sav 15 X 4
60 for the Bob 15 X 4
20 for the 7mm-08 5 X 4
36 for the 300 Wby 2 X 8 and 5 X 4
40 for the 340 Wby 10 X 4
Plus 75 rounds to fireform in 308 and 50 rds to fireform in the 6mm-284.

It was a GREAT afternoon and best part is that there was not another soul there the whole time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nothing like a relaxing range day. case of pop to drink while you sit and ponder while barrels cool or to slow the heart rate down.

yup yes sir good afternoon that would be

6 hours is a lot of shooting. I take it your trying to proposition somebody didn`t work out, hense you have to do all the shooting yourself.

On the contrary, we eliminated a vast number of loads and identified some excellent ones. We didn't get it all done but certainly got enough done to point me in the right direction with most of the rifles. I'm pretty much just fine tuning from the data collected.

Another bluebird summer day here in the Yukon so guess what? I'm loading up some more loads and heading off to the range for another relaxing 5-6 hrs with my babies, now this is what the term "QUALITY TIME" is all about. IMHO
HHHHMMMM......Which ones to shoot today? 7mm-08, 250 Sav and 257 Bob for sure..........then maybe the 7 RUM and a couple 243s and maybe the 470 NE just for giggles. Hey and maybe a few of my old levers to entertain myself during barrel cooling times.

good for you. I love the yukon, i just hate it when those big bajezus mosquitos hold you down and then have the nerve to belch in your face when they are finished. I stopped slapping them cause they just hit you back harder. glad to hear someone was out shooting, not just bs'ing about shooting! i love the 204 on varmints too

Well I was late getting away so I only spent 3 1/2 to 4 hrs Sunday, got home to find my internet offline, well about 20 mins after I got home it went down. Just came back online late last night, so this is my first opportunity to share Sundays shooting experience with you.
7-08 shot me a 1/2" 100 mtr 4 shot group (I shoot 4 shot groups when working up loads) 140 Sierra flat base and IMR 4350
257 Bob.....forgot my loads DUUHHH....
300 Wby got sighted in after load development, settled on 200 Accubond, RL 25 and 3/4" groups
250-3000...wasted some more powder and bullets
300 WSM...nothing spectacular but 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" with 150 TTSX going to try some different powders with this bullet.
Fireformed another 50 X 6mm-284 for sorting, preping and weighing for my 22-284.
Tried seating the 225 Accubonds .300" deeper in the 340, just in case but still no joy 4"+ patterns. Back to the 225 TTSX I guess.

Found my camera so I'll try to get some photos up today, if anybodys interested.

.340 Wby in a Model 70 Supergrade? There's something you don't see everyday.

Sir,...... I believe you have a winner:agree:, please step up to collect your prize!;)

Thanks, I was going to build one on a Sako L61R I had and then I noticed the Supergrade was available in the 338 with a 26" bbl, soooooooo, I ordered one up and yanked the barrel and rechambered it the same day or next that I received it. Never even fired a round of 338 from it. It is a truly nice rifle the wood is nothing exceptional but the fit and finish is outstanding and it loves 225 TTXs. I however want to use a 250 in it so I've ordered some 250 Parts for it and will try them. It does NOT like 225 or 250 Accubonds, anyway we'll see how it works with Parts if nothing else it does like 225 TTSXs.
I still have to open up the magazine well in the action and make a new box for the magazine and open the ejection port but I've got the bolt throw lenghtened to 4", the bolt stop and the ejector working so the rest is just a bit of 'smithin' to finish it up to a fully functional rifle.

what cartridge is the one which you put into the trigger guard to hold the rifle? everyone one else uses a pencil or something.

it seems that you are detail oriented, even the tiny thing.

tip my hat
