Inspired by cabin fever, the ultimate thread, and a desire to build my collection:

If you were to establish a battery of 6 sporting arms to fit all circumstances you feel you will encounter as a hunter (here and abroad if that is your thing) what would it include?

For those with many sporting arms as is, feel free to choose from collections, if not go as crazy as you want. For blanks in my list I have chosen to be reasonable.

I've used some categories, but these would be related to my needs.

Big Game: Marlin 1895 45/70 GBL
Crossover: Husqvarna Sporter in 30-06 or Mosin m44 in boyds laminate
Deer: Winchester 1894 30-30
Backup: Zastava m85 7.62x39
Shotgun: Mossberg 500 28' barrel
Rimfire: Henry 22 wmr

1. 10/22 22LR
2. SKB SxS 20ga IC/M
3. 870 12 ga 26" w/tubes
4. 223 sporter M700
5. 270 Win bolt action 24" sporter M700
6. 358 Win bolt action 22" lightweight sporter M700

22 rimfire...the key is to get a model that accept LR and shorts, usually bolt actions do this easiest
243 win bolt action for deer and anything smaller
270 win bolt action for moose and down to deer
300 win mag bolt action for moose, plains game
375 H&H for large bear and african dangerous game
12 g semi with both a smoothbore and rifled barrel for bird and slug hunting

Why is everyone talking "cabin fever"....I was out Goat hunting yesterday....get out there and enjoy :)

22LR, 10/22
22-250 bolt action
7mm-08 bolt action
308 win...semi-auto
300wm...both semi (bar) and bolt action
and 338LM bolt action
oh forgot to mention a shotgun....12 gauge, beretta

.17hmr bolt for targets and small things
22-250 bolt for slightly larger things
30-30 lever for close range deer/moose in the thick stuff
6.5-284 bolt for longer range plinking and hunting
300 Win Mag bolt for the biggest things I'll hunt
12ga over/under for things with feathers

.22lr - CZ bolt with irons
12ga - any reliable 28" pump with removable chokes
.223 - 20" AR-15 (imaginary world where they are not illegal to hunt with)
.280 Rem - Accurate lightweight bolt action of your flavour as a general hunting rifle and mountain rifle
.300 WM - Very accurate mid weight to reach out a bit
.375 Ruger or H&H - the minimum to hunt every animal on earth and surprisingly versatile here at home

Oh, what the heck... I'm bored;

CZ 452 FS .22 LR
Browning Maxus MODB 12 gauge
Browning Citori Lightning 20 gauge
Ruger M77 MKII RS .243 Win
Ruger No.1-RSI 7X57 Mauser
Ruger M77 MKII .350 Rem Mag

All in the cabinet...

C.I.L. 900 in .222 Remington/ 3-9X40 Leupold

FAIR 6.5X55 O/U express rifle / open sights and 4XIOR with QD mounts and extra set of 20 gauge barrels
Westley Richards 12 bore hammer double
FAIR 16 gauge O/U
I don't hunt dangerous bears or hephalumps so this is all I need from gophers to moose and anything that flies - minus pterodactyls!

I guess if I wade through my stuff to find 6 guns that provide the greatest versatility, it might look like:

Unique T Dioptra .22 rimfire
CZ 527 FS .223
Remington 700 .243
Remington 700 .280 AI
Brno 602 .375 Ultra
Mossberg 590 12 ga

Id likely go 22/250 for varmints, 7mm STW, .375 Weatherby, and .458 Lott for everything, .338 Edge for long range and a 12 gauge O/U for everything flying. The exact models wouldn't necessarily be ones I already have, but some would be.
